DJ Amma is not just a pretty face, this Reading born DJ - who is a rising star, has many bows to her hat. Whether she’s making history by becoming the first female to DJ at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s, causing mayhem on packed dance floors across the UK and Europe, being followed by an entire film crew for the day for the fly on the wall programme ‘Girls Just To Have Fun’ on Sky, DJ’ing live for BBC Radio for Black History Month, DJ'ing for the Gladdy Wax Sound System at the London Carnival or supporting many acts including Bad Manners, Kym Mazelle, Jive Aces, The Rhythm Aces, Jurassic 5, Extraordinaires, 9 Ton Peanut Smugglers and Here Comes The Boys etc – this busy lady always knows how to draw a crowd.
She’s been called the ‘Queen of Music’, by those who have seen her DJ’ing over the last few years. And after many years of digging for tune’s ‘wherever’ and ‘however’, this vinyl junkie has acquired a massive collection of records, which includes a variety of well known tunes to rare gems – which she is famous for playing. Her collection includes Ska, Rocksteady, Northern Soul, Jazz, Swing, Rhythm & Blues, Motown, Funk, High Life, Afro Funk, Black Exploitation film sound tracks, Breaks and 60's Pop etc.
So if you’ve missed this International Queen of Music on telly and radio or playing to packed out audiences across Europe make sure you don't miss her duing 2010.
DJ Amma has also featured regularly in literature and websites connected with the Mod and Northern Soul Scene worldwide such as Scene 64 and New Untouchables fanzines, Mod Culture and The Uppers Organisation websites, Scootering, Keeping the Faith, I'm One - 21st Century Mods, Girl 60 and Zipper (Japanese Mags) to name but a few...
When not supporting her 60’s passions she can be found teaching children to DJ.
