2010 announcment: Accepting gigs as normal again :) .. .. .. English.. .. .. ..::: DJ Amok (Germany) .... DJ Amok is well known as one of the founders of the German Hardtechno scene. His classic releases like "Bongo Dynamics", "Collateral Damage" and the infamous "Nightmare" gained immense popularity and helped establish the style during it's early days. Shortly after, his career as a DJ took off at a startling speed. Roughly a year after his debut, he already played several major festivals, including I Love Techno.) .. .. With a background in classical music (he learned to play the violin), Amok developed a style both extreme and unique. Despite playing hard as hell, his style showcases a sophisticated understanding of music not often found with Hardtechno DJs. His sets work on a deeper level and take the audience on a fierce ride to the dark side of Techno, complete with skillful mixing, clever build ups and a passionate love for Music. .. .. His labels Artillery Records and Crowbar have become household names with Techno and Hardcore DJs as well and featured the first releases of several of today's top names. In 2006, Amok started Artillery Bookings with his long time friend ViperXXL. A side project at first, the agency quickly grew into one of the the most important booking agencys for this style, presenting some of the best artists in the scene. .. Most recently he has joined forces with Dutch legend Rude Awakening and released two singles on Third Movement and Artillery. 2009 saw an extended break from DJing with the exception of a few festivals, but he stayed active on the vinyl market with the hit "Cleansing the Sphere" produced with Stormtrooper. .. .. .. Als Mitbegründer des Stils stand er an der Speerspitze einer Generation von Künstlern, die entgegen aller Trends die Faszination druckvoller Rhythmen und kompromissloser Härte wiederentdeckten und einen Sound erschufen, der heute weltweit die Bühnen zum Beben bringt..... Als er mit 18 Jahren, inspiriert durch Clubbesuche, auf dem heimischen PC zu produzieren begann, konnte das noch niemand ahnen. Seine ersten Tracks vertrieb er über mp3.com, wo er bald zum Geheimtip wurde und schließlich insgesamt knapp 1 Millionen Downloads erreichte. Als schließlich das Label Giga-Music entgegen den damaligen Trend seine Musik auf Vinyl zu pressen wagte, avancierten "Collateral Damage", "Bongo Dynamics" und natürlich "Nightmare" schnell zu Kulthits und verhalfen DJ Amok zum internationalen Durchbruch. Seitdem ist er von Europas Techno Festivals nicht mehr wegzudenken..... Das Geheimnis seines Erfolges ist, daß er sein Publikum nicht unterschätzt und immer wieder neu herausfordert. So entwickelte Amok, der eine Ausbildung in klassischer Musik hat, einen extremen wie einmaligen Stil. Geschickt verbindet er Elemente von Techno, Industrial und Hardcore zu seinem ganz eigenen Sound... "Ein DJ ist keine Jukebox. Er beschäftigt sich täglich mit neuen Platten und es ist seine Aufgabe seinen Zuhörern die Stücke zu zeigen, auf die sie von selbst vielleicht nie gekommen wären. Natürlich sollen sie die Leute die Musik hören, die ihnen gefällt, aber Musik sollte einen auch immer etwas fordern. Für mich ist es das beste Gefühl, wenn ich Leute mit Tracks zum Tanzen bringe, von der sie vorher gar nicht wußten, daß sie ihnen gefallen.", erklärt er. Da wundert es weiter nicht, wenn man in seinen Sets keine Bootlegs und andere Gassenhauer findet. Seine Sets funktionieren trotz aller Härte auf einer tieferen Ebene und zeichnen sich durch eine vielseitige Trackauswahl, stilsicheren Aufbau und blitzschnelles und technisch versiertes Mixing aus..... Auch im Labelbereich war Amok nicht untätig. Auf seinen Labels Artillery und Crowbar erschienen zahlreiche Klassiker des Genres. Zusammen mit seinem langjährigen Kollegen ViperXXL gründete er Anfang 2006 ihre gemeinsame Agentur Artillery Bookings, die viele Top Acts aus Techno und Industrial repräsentiert. ....
