Thank you for visit. Djamra acts around Japan Osaka.
Djamra is Osaka based band plays complex mixture of music of rock, jazz avant-garde and R.I.O.
Masaharu Nakakita the bassist formed Djamra in 1994. His previous band called NEOBOBO played mixture music such like Red Hot Chili Peppers. After long rehearsal period, Djamra started to play in 988 then they played around 20 shows at each year. Live performance of Djamra is very aggressive. They improvise and enhance their music at each show and getting better and better.
Alt Sax player Shinji Kitamura plays with Masaharu on Djamra from their early days, drummer Akihiro Enomoto joined the band in 2001. He is playing on all of the Djamra recordings. Keyboard player Takehiko Fukuda and guitarist Akira Ishikawa joined before "Kamihitoe" CD recording. Takehiko Fukuda was a member of jazz rock band PENTAGRAM (Vital Records).
They released many titles of CDs. Two main titles are "Transplantation"(2003) and "Kamihitoe"(2006) distributed by POSEIDON/MUSEA world widely. "Djamra"(2000) is their private press debut mini CD and they have four live CD-R s released by Vital Records, the education and archive division of POSEIDON, also. Hopefully Djamra will release live DVD till BajaProg2008. You will know it at the show.
Djamra is very keen to playing abroad. When POSEIDON managed Japan tour of PEST the Austrian band In 1999 Djamra hosted PEST at Kansai area(Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe). After that each band toured several times in Austria and Japan together. Adding Djamra played Czech (including UNIJAZZ Festival) and Slovenia. POSEIDON is helping these kind of tie-up between many bands in the world and Japanese bands and it goes on quite well.
