The passion of rhythm started at an early age for Anthony Lamanna. Beginning in his early childhood, Lamanna was intrigued by sound. From the soundscapes of downtown traffic to the ambiance of Central Park, it all seemed to have rhythm to Anthony. He began humming and mimicking the sounds as if they were part of a song...playing chop-sticks on a radiator cover in his bedroom learning how to bounce the sticks... At nine years old, his mother brought him to play drums with the house band of a restaurant she was waitressing. By the age of sixteen, Anthony Lamanna had been playing drums, guitar and keyboards all by ear without any kind of formal training. Summer of his sixteenth year, a late night incident, at a New York City nightclub known as “The Tunnel”, would take Lamanna’s musical path for a ride in a new direction. He had discovered House music. By the end of that summer, fueled by his determination and genuine love of music, he was filling in empty slots DJing/Mixing at the Curfew parties in NYC, all the while practicing on two belt driven turntables!
September 2001, just after 9-11, Anthony Lamanna moved to Philadelphia, PA to study fine arts. During that time he studied multimedia (audio & visual communications) by day and the Philly nightlife by night. “I remember getting out of class around 9 or 10 and grabbing my records just in time to catch a cab and make the set,” says Anthony, “…that feeling of moving the room forever enchants me.” After DJing the local Philly scene for about a year, Anthony Lamanna came back home to NYC, getting resident status at the highly acclaimed “White Room VIP Loft” in the largest nightclub on the east coast circuit at the time, Club Exit. Later he would go on to play at the renowned Sound Factory(NYC) and also Webster Hall(NYC). As his DJ career unfolded, so did his passion of rhythm; production as well as composition would follow and become his next project.
It has been and will always be the journey of life that inspires his music. Anthony Lamanna continues to produce, remix, and dj house music and plays live percussion for jazz/blues/jam sessions and shows. Experiencing his surreal dreamscapes and environmental control is truly breath-taking. Anthony Lamanna's relentless soul driving bass lines and emotion-bending harmonies captivate audiences everywhere he goes.
