It was December 1999 when Jasmina stood behind the turntables for the first time. After that, she never looked back. The slinky Travnik resident was already learning her first mix steps on Radio 3 in Sarajevo, which became her second home during the year 2000. That year she took up a residency at Club Yoda in her home town. As BiH’s first DJana media interest was quick to follow. Magazine stories highlighted her talent. A documentary films confirmed it. Then came the international bookings….
She began by experimenting with deep, funky, jazz, and drum‘n’ bass even though she felt primarily attracted to techno sounds. Out of this combination was born her instantly recognizable electro-tech-house style. To be honest though, she plays what she likes: a bit of a dirty, minimal, deep, kicking, funky sound mixed with some classic tunes.
Jasmina is currently playing with Starke - first on her friend list - and is also a member of ‘Alternativa Nova,’ a band in transition. Her hobbies and interests range from studying journalism, running EKIPA with friends and trying to play the bass guitar. During the hours of daylight this sleek one-to-watch works for ICMP, the International Commision on Missing Persons, which she describes as the best organization in the whole world.
