Sounds Like
Like noone before - just because noone has ever tried to put raw hutzul danza & strong dub vibe altogether onto the club dancefloor :)
Bruce Lee's grandson, Jamaica native - has started in 2001 in chillout at worldwide annual Earth Dance trance party inna weird club with speaking title "Galaktika" in Kyiv city subarbs.
During next 5 years from jamaican roots dub of 70-s has moved first to electronic psy dub, then ethnic chillout (still with mighty dub vibe), meanwhile coped with psytrance and psy prog, anyway haven't fallen in love with techno, but got fond of roots ethnic, go-go music from 60-70s and danceable ska.
Has been playing psydub, world grooves & ethnic beats in chillout or mushroom fullon and strong psy prog on the dancefloor in clubs, openair parties and festivals in Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Lugansk, Simeiz, Evpatoriya, cape Kazantip.
At the same time has been learning hard to play didgeridoo & jew's harp to accompany own dj sets.
Finally, in autumn 2005 unconquerable desire to experiment with live ethnic instruments has lead to the foundation of Good Vibez Promo meant for organizing psychedelic trance parties with unique chillout - where instead of usual sluggish and dull electronic crap one could enjoy raw dub vibe and worldbeats accompanied by live percussion, jew's harps and didgeridoo. But after a series of successfully organised events it turned out that organising the whole party just to enjoy proper chillout seems to be of an excess. Nevertheless, it was a nice possibility to test and approve radically fresh (at least, for homeland Ukraine) concept of ethnoelectronic parties.
By summer 2006 everything were ready for action. Two-one-zero- FIYAH! Bright gigs at summer festivals in Kyiv, Odessa and Crimean peninsula, fresh sea breeze and arising interest to ukrainian authentic roots music has combined into a whole new idea of strong dubby worldbeats with heavy hutzul touch that were tried on the spot and proclaimed as hutzul dub.
Autumn was a good time for all the preparational work: gathering musicians, artists, djs and vjs, designers to make it all reality.
Meanwhile preparing to launch ARKAN promo, compile a hutzul worldbeat CD and push the vibe forward.
Monkee Platez next offering is the 'Fulltilt EP' from Glasgow outfit Mr Hajika. Streetdate 14th November 4 slabs of groove driven tech house...
Fulltilt original is a chugging, bass heavy track with a subtle musicality that develops throughout. Dr. Bergers remix is a stripped down deeper edit, with an infectious flow that maintains the essence of the original. Similarly to Dr. Berger, Alex Fiction strips back the layers to uncover an electronic soul which builds into an intelligently emotive interpretation, if slightly twisted. Completing the package is 'Nitemoves' which shares the big sound of Fulltilt, but with a more progressive, melodic vibe."
