I also play auxillary percussion for the band Tribal Style. Site n Wondas for that. Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica, these brothers studied first hand under pioneers such as the Wailing Souls. The Tenn brothers' dad, Roddy Tenn, who has played NyaBinghi drums on some of Bob Marleys, Joe Higgs, Black Uhuru and the Wailing Souls early recordings, performs with the band often, bringing the original essence of Rastafarian drums to the music.
DJ Blenda, originally living just outside of Boston MA journied back and forth to Fl in the late 80's/early 90's and became deeper submerged in the reggae music scene that had been thriving in South FL at this time. While upholding original b-boy styles & values instilled within him throughout the 80's he again started playing drums, focusing a bit on more hand and stick percussion, rocking many dj sessions and coincidentally met Senegalese percussionist Aiyb Dieng at a jam session. Dieng, unknown to Blenda at this time was already a world reknown percussionist having played with Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, for most of Bill Laswells works, as well as Herbie Hancock, Fela Kuti, Public Image Limited recordings. Notably doing percussion arrangement on one of the first and now classic concious hip-hop/Punk rock fusions; Afrika Bambaata/Johnny Lydon's combo Time Zone/World Destruction. Blenda soon joined the formation called Afro Makosa which was fronted by Aiyb. Sessions grew wicked. This was a rebirth stage. Mentally and ethically. This collective currently formulates in various stages on a random basis and will again when the right time come. In 2000 Blenda arrives in Tampa, joined Tribal Style, started Gwan Massive with some select accomplices and started to make adjustments for the new sessions. The original plan for the wicked ras vibe delivery which is where we are today.
