London based Bopstar, resident DJ and recording artist for the Soul Heaven club and label, plays his own instruments, writes his own lyrics, and plays impeccable sets of soulful dance music. With a new single out on Soul Heaven, and a new monthly club night at Den and Centro with fellow restless soul producer Jose Carretas, Bopstar is shining bright.
Bopstar had been quietly making beats, and spinning since since the nineties, only finally signing tracks with Phil Asher's restless soul label, and with Afronaut from Bugz In The Attic for the Coop label, in 2006.
A couple years hence, making a name on the fringes where house meets broken beat, working with the likes of Bugz, Simbad, Kay Suzuki and of course restless soul, a strange vocal tune he penned called 'Captured' caught the attention of Soul Heaven, and upon release Bopstar had a massive worldwide house hit on his hands, big everywhere from New York to South Africa.
Nowadays officially a core member of both the Soul Heaven club and label, and of the restless soul production team, there's a new single, the 3rd so far to feature London's Zara McFarlane, a heap of new remixes due, for folks likes Zed Bias, a bunch of new collaborations on the cards, and a highly anticipated first ever restless soul album featuring the whole crew. Then there's the new monthly night with Jose Carretas, getting the live shows ready with Zara McFarlane, the weekly radio show on vulive.co.uk, and spinning around town, around the country, and around the world.

Review: "Don Goliath's "Bagstep EP" (DDR030) is one of those innovative EPs showcasing how versatile Dubstep can get. The unique idea of creating Dubstep versions of celctic (Irish as well as Scottish) folk classics for all you drunkards longing to sing along was Don Goliath's motto when producing this madness. The concept is as simple as effective: he picked 4 of your grandpa's favourites such as "Old Skibbereen", "Scotland the Brave", "Drunken Sailor" and "Amazing Grace" having the melody played by a definitly non-sober Bagpipe section and then layering it with lofi mid range wobbleism - we therefor call it Bagstep. Overall production quality is high grade with that intense sub focus so you can blow-dry your hair right in front of the bass bins. Now let's get into the tunes: "Skibbereen Bagstep" is one of the melancolic minor tunes expressing Irish history as it is. It is an unmixable 3/4 waltz beat at unusual 154bpm, well dancebal though when one moves to the triplets. "Bagstep the brave" should be one of the sickest rebuilds of the Scottish national anthem making it Mel Gibson's signature tune if he had one. "Drunken Bagstep" is a Glitchfest version of the sailors anthem capable of getting you uberdrunk by listening alone, Arrrr! "Amazing Bagstep" is as religious as it gets making it a tune that'll certainly safe xamounts of lost souls. Enjoying the dancefloor got even easier now: drink out the bar, make your skirt fly and sing along to these (future) classics! Some will hate this release and some will love it, there barely is anything in between. All Dubstep Division crew salutes the latter as our fellow beerheadz! cheeeeeerz!"

No problem, good to hear your stuff wasn't hosted with them. It's odd because I was listening to your podcast on your site (now downloaded via itunes) and it was choppy & when I went to fast forward it took me to the Podango site; so I thought that was the reason why.
WMC: LOL... my friend Sean (http://www.myspace.com/djseanalvarez) keeps telling me how much fun he has every year and I was just yesterday looking at a hotel deal for there that ends soon. That's still up in the air - so I'd say 50% chance. You?
Hey, was in the middle of listening to your podcast (love it!) when the company that is/was hosting your podcast, Podango hit the tech deadpool http://ping.fm/mca76 - you may want to redirect your podcast RSS feed to a new service since they are out of business at the moment.
