Since early 2003 Kalan Bird aka Dj Br34th3 has been pushing electronic music in every direction. Having grown up listening to various forms of metal and industrial his passion for hard edge driving music is still paramount to this day. Following the flow, he has headlined numerous events, hosted local radio shows, had mixes featured on countless stations and has taken part in several documentaries on the psychedelic techno scene. Renowned for his relentless nighttime groove and witty yet tight mix technique Br34th3 has found himself at the helm of some of the finest rigs working alongside some of the most influential artists in the global community.
In 2004 he founded Phonolite, a Montreal based production company allowing infinite creative possibilities. Best known for Soma, Montreal’s official psychedelic New Year’s party and the legendary Psychoactive parties, Phonolite has blended some of the best rising local talents with cutting edge international acts in the most lavish environments possible.
Armed with a home studio Br34th3 has spent the last few years carefully crafting his own brand of psychedelic techno. The most successful being Kode Six, a project shared with Frank Bureau aka Splinter who to date have headlined numerous events internationally and count releases on various labels as well as a full length album available now from Vision Records. Their tracks have moved dance floors around the globe with great critical acclaim and they are currently planning their second full length album slated for release for fall 2009.
“ReSet” Br34th3s new solo project has already seen twin releases on Canada’s premier psytrance label initiative Twenty HZ Records compilation Natura, named after the famed Canadian outdoor festival. Up and ready with a fully functioning and road tested live set ReSet has much planned for the near future.
His third project and nurtured brainchild “Optix” represents a much more sensitive take on techno music with slower beats and deeper suggestive sample work. A project 3 years in the making, his first release Ochre Dawn can be heard on Vision Records compilation “Through The Eyes of the Ancients”
