Thanks for stopping by. Joe Bataan or Tommy James?
I like old records, Cuban, African, New York Latin Soul, Puerto Rican, Brazilian, so I'm always listening to a lot of those genres, and always looking for more. My all time favorite producer is Pancho Cristal. He worked with everyone from Joe Cuba to Armando Sanchez, Eddie Palmieri, Ricardo Ray, Pete Rodriguez, and on and on. I don't think I've ever heard a record he touched that wasn't great. I also collect old soul 45's, I really like what was going on in Memphis, Shreveport, and Muscle Shoals back in the late 60's. The Jewel/Paula/Ronn/Soul Power family of labels is one of my current digs.
There's always a lot of great indie music coming out around town, and the Chicago scene is really heating up! Current favorite: 1900's. Also big fan of the M's, Paper Airplane Pilots, Catfish Haven, Changes, Watchers, and I'm really looking forward to Alla's first full length this fall!
P.S. Bugalu is an alternate spelling of the word boogaloo, probably the original spelling, and was the favored spelling in Africa for the same rhythm. Believe it ir not, the boogaloo craze did make it as far away as Mali, Senegal, and Angola to the east, and Brazil to the south. I took the name from Charlie Palmieri's "Latin Bugalu" LP from 1968 on Atlantic, which is, incidentally, currently out on reissue at about nine buck for the vinyl LP. Not the best boogaloo record, but definitely one of the classics.

Happy Day, Sir P! I miss seeing you, and I wish I could have committed to bowl, but Tuesdays just aren't good for me. Perhaps I will drop by as a bowling spectator on occasion? We need to hang out. Ok, that's all for now. Hope you had a wonderful day.
a guy at 107 flossed his teeth at the table and left his little sword thing lying there. you would have ripped him a new one. i was too appalled to react...
you sent a me a comment, which required some sort of approval, even though i don't ask for it (were you being dirrrrty?), and then i hit 'submit' and that deleted it.
d'oh. now i'm never going to know what your intentions were.
Thanks for the add. I had a great time as well. I love the cuts you we're spinning. Do you ever shop at the Whole Foods in Lakeview?
