Bio:Born in Houston and growing up in the southwest suburbs of Houston (Missouri City), DJ Burb was always exposed to music. In jr. high and high school, DJ Burb played the baritone horn (which is looks like a small tuba, but sounds more like a mellow trombone), which enhanced his musical mathematics skills.
He would listen to music any chance he got, whether it was road trips with his family (old school soul), riding with his aunt in her Toyota (funk.. his aunt also bought him his first record ever.... Newcleus "Jam On It") or just playing his radio in the bed while trying to go to sleep for school the next morning (old school hip-hop experience). But what really pushed him over the edge in music, was when he was at his post high school graduation party, and the D.J. at the party played A Tribe Called Quest f/ L.O.N.S. Scenario, which turned him into a huge Native Tongues fan.
While in college studying Computer Science, he met different DJs that hipped him to different college radio and underground hip-hop shows. Then, after hearing Brown Sugar by D..Angelo, On and On by Erykah Badu and the Illadelph Halflife album by The Roots, he fell in love with the live band sound as well. At this time he had met DJs, such as Cipher and Chicken George, and was inspired to adventure more into the music scene. Just watching them spin, hinted to him that he had a lot more to learn on the underground scene than he already knew.
After frequenting mainstream clubs for a number of years, he noticed that Houston was in need of a twist. Instead of complaining about it, he decided to get some equipment and did it himself. His immediate vision was to introduce Houstons mainstream to the unfamiliar sides of urban music (which the radio stopped doing in the early 90s) while still bringing them the mainstream music they were so accustomed to. DJ Burb is known for beginning his sets with underground hip-hop and live band/smooth soul to warm up the crowd at local clubs and parties while they sip on their drinks. As the night progresses, he incorporates prevalent radio hits and old school joints to get the party going.
His quote: Houston is one of the largest cities in the U.S., why cant we be a New York or a Chicago or a D.C., in the music scene and we should be.

Who I'd like to meet: People who have sense, but at the same time are retarded.... did that make sense?
I had a blast Saturday night! The music was jammin' (as always). You set the evening off when you played that Prince! I was in my own world *lol*! Thanks for the invite. Continue to keep me posted when you spin.
I would like to tell you briefly about "I Luv NeoSoul Radio" . A lot of cities have little or no knowledge of Alternative Soul/Soul artists. People are tired of listening to the same lyrics, hooks and poverty stricken songs. We want to hear something original with a message. But because of how crooked mainstream radio is for example “payola”, it's hard for really good artist to get any air-play. We want to embrace the world with the raw talents we come across everyday. So we created a station for all artist to be heard and embrace the world with new talents and established artists. We need your support for "I Luv NeoSoul LLC” radio
i look in the mirror and surprisingly see... a new me...really the old me ....better yet... the real me its just that suddenly everything has become so clear to me i see the same smile thats been there since my birth but yet i was to negative to believe... i now see what the world sees Though in the past.... that just wasn't enough for me I'm in agreement that i shall love me for what i've been hiding underneath and not for what i was deceiving myself to see what's it about? life that is... if you can't direct your own dream. if you don't produce your own happiness if your just a actor playing a role in the eyes of those who only see you for something less... than you were born to be wishes come true so do the dreams we cant seem to conceive cause the fear of failing... convinces is that its just better off to sleep... -Nide
