DJ Carlo T.

DJ Carlo T. was one among a generation of mobile hip-hop dj's who battled their mixing abilities in the early 80's and almost 25 years later he's still in the game. Carlo Taniguchi was born on March 23, 1972 in the tiny Pacific island of Guam and it was at this time, Hip Hop "Grandfather" Afrika Bambaataa was DJ'ing , Taki 183 was graffiti's best and the hottest dance moves called the "Drop and Top Rocking" were breaking into the clubs. At 14 years old, Carlo had experimented with graffiti and breakdancing but found himself captivated when discovering Hip Hop Culture's main ingredient, the art of DJ'ing. In 1986, he formed Demo Creations with the help from godfather, DJ Whiz of Unique Musique and quickly gained recognition from crews alike by competing in several dj battle competitions and events throughout the mecca where some of the most respected and reknown dj's still currently reside today, the Bay Area. By May of 1988, he entered and won his first DJ Battle Competition and also placed second against DJ Qbert in October at Expressions, Boy's That Go Boom DJ Battle in Newark, Ca. He showcased and was featured in numerous events and club venues, dj'ed several youth group and high school functions with his crew and with Ultra Sonic Soundz who recruited him soon after and dj'ing at a popular 18 and up nightclub in Palo Alto at the young age of 16. Since 1998, he's been Resident DJ at the GlasKat, Sound Factory, Factory525, SupperClub, Club Limelight, The EndUp, Suede, Space550 Barneveld, Loft11, Jelly's Pier50, Blush, Skylounge, 1015 Folsom, Julie's Supperclub, Ibiza, Club NV, The Forum, and most recently Club Mist and The Cellar in San Francisco. He started producing and remixing music in early 2000 and since then, he's collaborated with various Artist's and groups from both side's of the country including New York based rap affiliates, Crime Committee Entertainment, DCB Entertainment in Atlanta and co-producing albums for island reggae group, Epic Roots in Hawaii. His motivation comes from dj'ing with Mobile DJ groups Spintronix, Imperial Sounds, Unique Musique, LiveStyle Prod., Ultimate Creations and many others who pioneered the movement and was highly inspired by Hip Hop legends DJ Jazzy Jay, GrandWizzard, DST, Flash, Jam Master Jay, Red Alert, Kool Herc, and DJ Jazzy Jeff to name a few. "We were part of History in the making and i'm blessed to have befriend many great DJ's and groups throughout this experience." You can truly notice his creative style and versatility in several of his mixtapes stemming from Hip-Hop, Freestyle and Breakbeats to House, Jungle, DnB, Reggae, Trip-Hop and as a Battle DJ, definitely Turntablism.
