Dj Chaser is Chad Humphrey. He was born outside of Chicago and moved to a Dallas suburb shortly after. Growing up in Texas Chad listened to the same mindless music that was force fed to him by the radio and MTV. Chad was first introduced to “rave culture” in 1994 when one of his childhood friends took him to an underground party in an old abandoned warehouse in Dallas. This started the life long pursuit that has kept Chad working in many facets within and around the electronic dance community in Dallas Texas. The first experience seeing a DJ perform was at this party and planted a seed for the rest of his life. While watching the movie Hackers and hearing the songs Halcyon + on + on by Orbital and Cowgirl by Underworld, Chad set out on a journey to find out more and more about the music he had fell in love with. In 1996 Chad started working with and formed a friendship with John Mitchmore (Trance factor) who would become his business partner and co-owner of Slipped Up recordings several years later. Between their group of friends John bought his first pair of Technics SL1200 turntables. Their small crew used these decks to practice and learn how to DJ. During this period of time Chad had become Reacquainted with an old friend of his from childhood (Dj Frost-E) that was older and learned that he had been Djing in Dallas and throwing parties. Teaming up with him to promote parties Chad learned the business side of the scene and started to make some very good connections with promoters and club owners around town. This led to Chad’s very first gig. Chad stumbled through his set but found his love for making the dance floor move. He quickly realized that he had to find his own unique sound if he wanted to stand out amongst the other Dj’s in Dallas and he started to spin mostly trance and breaks. Over the years Chad has changed his sound quite a bit but, always staying current with the new trends in Dance music while keeping the same groove that made fall in love with EDM to begin with. Chad has spent a lot of time investing into the scene that he holds so closely to heart. Positions including managing a record shop, promoting events, running a digital record label, graphic design, producing & Djing. Chad has held residencies at some of Dallas’s best clubs including Minc and the legendary Area 51(formerly Stark Club) R.I.P. all while still playing one off events in Dallas and other cities throughout the nation. Chad has opened for many world-renowned acts from around the world. Chad played at the Santa Fe Musik Festival last year and has most recently just got back from playing at the Massive Music Festival in Miami during WMC. His sound these day’s, is a mixture of Techno, progressive & house music that will get your mind wandering and your ass shaking. Chad has been very busy in the studio lately and will have several tracks ready for release this year so keep an eye out and be prepared to dance.
