Dave’s obsession for all things House, Techno and electronic inspired music grew from a very early age. Intrigued and somewhat mystified by the repetitive pounding beats of the TR-909 drum machine and the hypnotic acid sounds from the TB-303 synthesizer he would hear in many tracks from uber producers Westbam, Laurent Garnier and The Age of Love right through to the indie dance group St. Etienne.
Steadily building his music collection and eagerly wanting everyone else to hear it, Dave began DJ’ing in 1999.
A swift relocation from Ireland to London enabled Dave to be more involved and contributive to the dance music scene running and co-promoting a number of successful nights in London’s Shoreditch (Home Bar) and Islington areas (Medicine).
Now Cambridge based, Dave has had the pleasure of DJ’ing at many nightclubs and music festivals from Studio 3 to The Junction, Grassrootz to Wychwood.
Dave’s distinctly creative skills behind the decks fused with his seamless mixing and logic-defying scratching not only brings aural satisfaction to the masses but also visual elation. Really manipulating the DJ technology at his fingertips to exploit the music and create live remixes throwing accapellas, loops, samples into the mix whilst still letting the music speak for itself.
Dave’s passion for House music, whatever it’s sub-genre, and the DJ kit and technology used to meld it altogether fluidly motivated him to begin running DJ workshops and tutorial sessions everywhere he possibly could, from music festivals to schools, night clubs to community centres, passing on the love for the music and teaching DJ techniques, tips and tricks to all who participated. This great work has lead Dave to work alongside Pioneer in their “Make Me A DJ” project which aims to bring DJ’ing to classrooms - goodbye to the boring dated recorder!
Dave’s ability to teach, inspire and mesmerize pupils as well other DJ’s has turned a countless number of heads in the music industry from DJ’s such as Radio 1’s Rob da Bank who personally booked Dave for Camp Bestival, right through to DJ equipment manufacturers M-Audio who asked Dave to become a product demonstrator for them and help launch and demonstrate their Torq Conectiv digital DJ product at top music industry shows.
Dave’s innovative flair combined with his product knowledge and vast DJ teaching experience caught the eye of super-club Ministry of Sound who have made him the latest addition to their DJ Academy roster of talented DJ tutors.
Dave Linton; a new breed of DJ talent is continuing to emerge.
