Eccentric, eclectic, diverse; deep & unforced, upbeat & free flowing, he gives himself no
restrictions... no limitations. A true non-conformist...readily noted by his track
selection and style of mixing.
A few short years after beginning his foray into the subterranean realms of dance music
at home in Canada, he made a sudden move to Australia. Finding his feet in Melbourne, it
was his weekly radio show and residencies at unique venues, combined with interstate gigs
across the country that assisted him in concretely formatting his approach to music and
as a direct result, his provision of sound.
Presently calling Syd-city his 2nd home, means Sydney-siders are privy to a wide array of
sounds anytime they're on the dancefloor and happen to catch him at the wheels. From well aged hip-hop, afro-beat, funk, disco & nu-disco through on up to house and the more
electronic domains of tech, techno and minimal....
Each nights sound provision interspersed with many unexpected and welcomed surprises
along the way!

Monkee Platez next offering is the 'Fulltilt EP' from Glasgow outfit Mr Hajika. Streetdate 14th November 4 slabs of groove driven tech house...
Fulltilt original is a chugging, bass heavy track with a subtle musicality that develops throughout. Dr. Bergers remix is a stripped down deeper edit, with an infectious flow that maintains the essence of the original. Similarly to Dr. Berger, Alex Fiction strips back the layers to uncover an electronic soul which builds into an intelligently emotive interpretation, if slightly twisted. Completing the package is 'Nitemoves' which shares the big sound of Fulltilt, but with a more progressive, melodic vibe."
Out of the laboratory of Monkee Platez in Hamburg comes newcomer Eisa Dore with her deep and colourful track ENVI. The song develops a monotonic harmony and tells its own story of style through the interaction of the sluggish - almost break - beat and genuine minimal sounds.
The second highlight on the EP is the spaced out Superfly ellegantly combining synth pads, melodies and rhythmic elements. Furthermore Eisa Dore gives us Backstroke which takes you on a minimal trip through exciting sounds in a technoid cover. Just Listen!!!
To make the package complete Alex Fiction produced a loungy but strongly grooving remix to Backstroke. Just the right tune to catch some sun on these last days of summer and enjoy life...

In the lead up we've added two unreleased tracks
from Sunny Dread and Rubba Sinka. Sunny laid
down a live jam for us and Rubba Sinka is giving
us a sneak peak of a remix he's done for Dj Proxy's
(a Gold Coast DnB producer) upcoming album.
Remember 8pm doors open at $10 and $15 after
eleven pm.
I thought the venue was cool. Except maybe where the decks were felt a bit out of place. maybe move them to where the sofas were, move the sofas to around the bar, and block off the door by the stairs. that way you could make it feel more like a club room...? i dunno, just a thought!
Anyway, keep us posted, would be cool to come play one time too.

Un endroit intime ou, si le temps nous le permet, vous permettra de danserà ciel ouvert la tête dans les étoiles, avec accès à une terrasse ouvous pourrez par exemple fumer librement tout en écoutant les setsendiablés de nos Dj's ... demandez à ceux qui sont venus.
