I am a 27 year old breakbeat dj. I hosted a show called midwest breaks on www.ibreaks.co.uk Mondays 6-8pm central time or midnight-2am gmt(uk)for 3 years!! I am taking a break at the moment but I will return!!
My name is David or Dj derve and I am from Missouri, in a town of 40,000 about 100 miles south of St. Louis. I have been mixing records and cd's for 6 years now. It started as I grew ill of writing poetry when I was upset. I then quit writing and started spinning. This helped me vent frustration into beats and eventually very dark breakbeats.
Since I have started listening to electronic music I have been exposed to mostly ragga jungle, uk jungle, and breaks. Most of my friends played jungle so I wanted to do something different. So my freind Dj Reperkushin, a ragga jungle dj, showed me the ropes to spinning records. I started playing funky florida breaks and began hearing breaks with a darker side. Once I had discovered nuskool breaks the funk was left behind. Now my tracks I spin are primarly dark and aggressive.
I often got my tracks from listening to ibreaks and started throwin down the darkest tracks I could get my hands on. And for 3 years now I have had the oppurtunity to share my sound along with my favorite Dj's in the area like Tony Foo Yong,AndyB,Reperkushin,Brainstorm,Cm3,Upgrade,Koneka and the ocasional headliner like Backdraft,Hyper,Angel Farringdon,Factor-E, Far Too Loud,Psure,JDS,BassPilots,Duel Calibre,Mitch Mitchum,Ils,Ceos&Arcee,and more to come.
Also big ups to all of the my guests hosts I have had on the show like Dj Oz,Trippy Hippy,Dee Bass,Flyte,and
Mytmike!!!! You guys have helped me hold my show together HUGE UPS to Jmekka and J-Bass for the oppurtunity to play on ibreaks!!!!
