Drastik has been dj’ing for just over 11 years now and in that time has proven himself as one of Canada’s top dj’s. In his 5 years dj’ing competetively, Drastik won himself numerous titles including the prestigious Turnstylez Turnament (2003), a two-time Ottawa DMC Champion (03,04), Canadian DMC head to head (Supremacy) Champion (2004), Montreal DMC Champion (2005), Canadian DMC Champion (2005) and with his crew, Canadian DMC Team Champion (2006). Drastik competed in The 2004 DMC Battle for World Supremacy (head to head) in London England where he placed in the top 4 (semi finals) as well as the 2005 World DMC finals where he placed in the Top 10! Aside from being an accomplished battle dj and turntablist, Drastik is also known as a versatile club/mixtape dj. His set’s and mixtapes are known to include anything from grimy baltimore club and hard electro, to indie rock, house, disco, dirty south and whatever else gets the floor moving! His unique blend of different genres mixed with his turntablist skill has earned his sets and mixes praise worldwide!
His accomplishments have allowed him to play alongside artists/groups/dj’s such as 2 Live Crew, Tha Alkaholiks, Llyod Banks, Mobb Deep, Talib Kweli, Chromeo, Dj A-Trak, The Rub, Treasure Fingers, Tommie Sunshine, Dirty South, Stretch Armstrong, The Pase Rock, Flosstradamus, Dj Craze, Klever, Roc Raida and a slew of others. His press includes appearances on BBC’s 1xtra (rodney p n skitz show), MTV UK, CTV’s Canada AM, Tag Radio, A Channel Ottawa, Much Music, a commercial on Much Vibe as well as articles in The Ottawa Citizen, The Ottawa Sun, Xclaim Magazine, X-press and many others nation/world wide!
In the summer of 2003, Drastik and Twrecks founded the Stylusts (http://www.stylusts.blogspot.com). A turntablist/Dj/production collective consisting of Dj Illo, Tom Wrecks and Drastik. As a crew they have performed all over Canada from Halifax to Vancouver, done club production and remixes that smash dancefloors worldwide and even won the Canadian DMC Team Championship! Each member brings something different and unique to the table all the while blending each others styles and techniques to make one serious click of dj’s and producers. Wether it’s winning major Dj titles, doing production and club dj’ing, to mixtapes, graphic design, clothing design and playing host to some of Ottawa’s best club nights, these dudes seriously have the game on smash and its only begun!
