DJ Dub Boy (aka Tim Rayner) is a Bristol based DJ currently playing a variety of sound-system musics aimed squarely at getting waists winding on the dancefloor. Over the last few years Dub Boy has blazed a trail on the Bristol club scene and beyond helping re-ignite Bristol’s underground bass driven music scene. Playing what he has coined ‘Forward Thinking Bashment, Dub Boy is only confined by his mantra of spinning ‘riddim and bass’. His sets include a variety of sounds including Dancehall, Reggae, Dubstep, Grime, HipHop, Bashment, Dub, Electronica, Jungle and everything inbetween, and always includes a healthy selection of upfront dubplates and remixes with an emphasis on juggling, quick mixes and plenty of vocals to keep the dancefloor skanking.
Dub Boy is also co-promoter of one of Bristol’s best underground club nights, Ruffnek Diskotek, which also promotes the ‘Forward Thinking Bashment’ soundtrack. Both Ruffnek Diskotek, and as a result Dub Boy, have been pivotal figures in the rise of Dubstep and general bass driven sound-system music in the city over the last few years. Furthermore Dub Boy is part of the Roots Radical radio show broadcasting every Tuesday night 12midnight to 2am on PassioRadioBristol.com giving him the opportunity to dig deeper into his record collection for the late night listeners.
