DJ DUBLEE has many influences that affect his music selection. His father served in the military for 22 years and living in places such as Hawaii, Southern California and Maryland. Growing up Dublee listened to a variety of music ranging from The Isley Brothers, Al Green, Earth Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder to BB King, James Brown, Celia Cruz and Selena. Music was definitely something Dublee connected with and became a fan of New jack Swing and Hip Hop. While growing up, Dublee used to make mixtapes, not from turntables, but from the radio and would put little skits in them using a tape recorder. In high school while on the basketball team, Dublee would create cd’s for the team to warm up too, this was the first time that Dublee’s music selection was played in front of an audience. It wasn’t until 2003 in Atlanta where Dublee dj’ed for the first at the FAMU vs. TSU HBCU Black Classic at his cousin’s TO’s tailgate party. It was then that Dublee invested in some DJ equipment and started doing house parties for free while attending college at UMBC. While at college he also had his own show The Hip Hop and R&B Assault at the university’s radio station 560 AM and had his first taste of broadcasting live over the air waves.
Dublee has been making big moves in the Baltimore and DC area dj’ing at venues like thePower Plant Live, Eden’s Lounge, Latin Palace, Love the Club, Pasha Lounge and Club Taste. At parties Dublee enjoys taking the crowd through a musical journey because he understands that tied into certain songs are memories, and Dublee enjoys taking it back. Enjoying the true essence of a true dj, Dublee thinks that a dj should know how to network, blend seamlessly and also be able to read a crowd. Dublee also plays new track from artists on the come up which is something that dj’s now are scared to do these days.
Dublee most notable collaboration has been hooking up with one of the hottest underground hip hop artist to this date Wordsmith and becoming a part of theNu Revolution camp. Being a part of Nu Revolution has given Dublee an arsenal of weapons. Dublee and Wordsmith alongside Black Knight(another member of Nu Revolution) has started a podcast called Revolt Radio where Signed and Unsigned artist get their shine that they wouldn’t otherwise get on commercial radio. Building relationships with artists, journalists, producers and other dj’s is now the a major focus in Dublee’s career as he gears up to make his name known in the hip hop world. Some notable relationships that he has built other than being a part of Nu Revolution is DJ Nominal, DJ J Wall, Christina K, Medinah Starr, Musik G, Q Hatfield,Mo Mo, Tre-Dot and Greenspan.
