Monotony 2003 (Digital MP3 Download) -$11.95
This is the first album from Egadz. This release is distinctively darker in sound than any of the other releases. This albums got the loud resonating drums, deep melodies, and fuzzy distortion that gave Egadz his original sound. Although it is the first, its definitely not an album to be overlooked by any means.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am EGADZ!, otherwise known as Erik Nava. I grew up around
two siblings immersed in the Hip hop culture and from a
young age I knew of Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambatta,
and Egyptian Lover. I watched my brother and sister
breakdance on cardboard and marveled at late 80's graffiti throwups. There was an
overall appreciation throughout my family of all music beyond Hip-hop. Growing up as a
Mexican American, I was exposed to Los Lobos, and various other lesser-known
"Cumbia" bands. I went through phases of many types of music including rock from
the 50's and 60's, Folk, Early Jazz, and Funk.
I began as a turntablist and a battle DJ during the mid to late nineties in San Diego,
California where I won some local competitions, but quickly moved into producing.
I am a digger at heart and have been captured by the possibility of finding the gem lost
amongst the crates of dollar records. This love for records fueled my love for hip hop beats
and after years of making beats that few would hear, I produced my first album under
the pseudonym DJ Egadz.
With help from a long time friend and business partner, I found the confidence and
knowledge to release his first album with modest intentions. The album "Monotony" was
released under the satirical record label name "Monotonous" in July of 2002. The album
was sent to college radio stations around the country and boasted a 1 spot at Berkeley’s
KALX and other top 10 spots at many other radio stations across the nation. The album
has been licensed to 411VM Skateboard magazine and has been heard on Fuel TV.
Since 2002, I released 2 more projects as Dj Egadz with limited pressings and continued to tour most of the united states more than once.
In early 2008, I created another label, Kid Without Radio, which hosts a handful
of other talented producers. In 2008, I dropped the DJ part of my name, added an exclamation
point and released “Shining Hours”, a collection of all of the Egadz tracks from 2004-2005.
I recently finished Egadz is Dead, the very last album under the name EGADZ!. I have now started another project called NAVA. Look out for a brand new album from me very soon.
Damn!! You got some crazy fans. So I snakes a beat off your album and am making a track. I'll send it to you and then maybe we can get busy... What day is the Denver show? I want to come talk
The sound up here in Flagstaff at the Mad Italian sucks. My friends the canyon animals played up here with Sole and Sole ended up working the sound board all night. Therefore, I would suggest the Hotel Monte Vista or just about anywhere else.
