| About Elcasa |
|
It is the year 1972, The Temptations scored the hit "Papa was a Rolling Stone"and in the South-West of Holland, 2 metres below sea level, a cute little boy was born.
Years went on and on and during puberty this young fellow became interested in music. First it was (Italo-) Disco what cought his attention and at the end of the 80’s the Acid-House came up and cought his attention. Not long after that he started buying records and within a short time he had two turntables and a mixer and started practising his DJ-skills. Now Elcasa was born.
His first gigs were at local clubs in the early 90’s, playing commercial hits and every now and then a House party. That was what he liked. play his own favourite records.
Elcasa also got booked at several parties in cities as The Hague, Leiden , Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Utrecht. He played at private parties and on Radioshows (Planet e, Channel X and many more). He played in clubs like The Milkyway ( Melkweg), Testlab (together with Eddy de Clercq), Twisted. All in Amsterdam. Winkel van Sinkel (Utrecht), De Rechter (Eindhoven), Nighttown, Carrera, Waterfront (Rotterdam).
He also found a job at Clone Recordshop in Rotterdam.
A couple of years later Elcasa (now 26 years young) decided to go away for a while. As he couldn’t leave his precious music behind for a year, he compiled a bag of records to go travel with him. The destination was Australia........
He has had gigs at almost every town and place he went to. He had gigs in Brisbane, Sidney, Melbourne (Teriyaki, Centrifugel), Cairns (rainforest parties, boatparties, caveparties and even on a deserted island (HUH!!?) on the Great Barrier Reef. After 1 year he got back to Holland again and came living in Rotterdam.
He became resident at the Bootleg DJ-Cafe and at ON, the Saturday’s clubnight at Off-Corso. He played at several beachparties, at Cafe d’Anvers (Antwerp), Sound and Vision Festival (Malieveld, The Hague) and is recently booked for parties in Eastern Germany. His style of DJ-ing can be best described as energetic, diverse, beautiful and technically verrry okay. He likes to mix several styles of music in one set.
April 2006 he started a new clubnight, Body Mechanic. Every 6 weeks he invites some dj’s and a live-act.
