Tidsskriftet Djembe er i dag en del af 'Cultures', som er en bredere kommunikationsplatform om kulturmøder og kunstarter i globalt perspektiv.
Tidsskriftet Djembe (1992-2008) skrev primært om musik og litteratur i krydsfeltet mellem afrikansk, latinamerikansk, asiatisk og europæisk kultur.
En gang om året udkom tidsskriftet med en CD fyldt med det bedste fra den danske world-scene. Cultures fortsætter denne tradition.
I hvert nummer af Cultures anmeldes over 50 CDer og DVDer indenfor alle "world music" genrer - afrikansk, latinamerikansk, asiatisk, europæisk, balkan, klezmer og alle de nye spændende fusioner, som man kun svært kan sætte en genre-label på. Her anmeldes bøger, såvel fag- som skønlitterære, film og andre udgivelser, som vi formoder har interesse for vores læsere.

It is with pleasure that we announce that today is the first day of Rüdiger Oppermann’s KLANGWELTEN Festival 2009. For this year’s tour Oppermann has chosen no less than eight wonderful musicians from around the globe to perform with him. Among these are two outstanding Lao musicians; Somdee Luangnikhone and Oneta Bussady, both performers of the quintessential Lao instruments khaen and pi.
The tour, which is no less a tour-de-force of world music, lasts for an outstanding two months with gigs almost daily in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium from October 22nd until December 21st.
