At the delicate and tender age of 18 Excalibah was catapulted to lofty heights as the first signing to BBC 1Xtra. As a DJ he is well known for promoting new UK talent and has even filled in for the legendary John Peel on Radio 1. He has played to rooms full of sweaty people all across the world (Norway, France, Canary Islands and the UK) and has been resident at London’s biggest clubs, Fabric and Ministry of Sound. Radio credits include: shows on BBC Radio 1, BBC Asian Network, BBC 6Music and BBC 1Xtra. He won “Best Radio Show” and “Best Radio Presenter” in the hip-hop press for three years on running and can currently be heard worldwide on Pyroradio.com.
Releases include: production for Shameless, Willow, Dom G, Loudmouth, TB and English as well as mix CDs and compilations for: the NSPCC, the BBC, Rising Styles, Alize, HHC, Big Dada & Dat Sound.
Writing credits include: monthly columns for Hip Hop Connection and Big Smoke; articles for The Sunday Telegraph, Knowledge, SOS and IDJ. In 2008 Excalibah was accepted onto the post graduate Ethnic Diversity Work Placement Scheme at The Guardian where he had three articles published.
Film and theatre credits include: Tube Tales, Airplane Man, Spoke Fest, 10 Poet Slam and Da Boyz which he composed and musically directed; Jean Genet’s The Blacks (Time Out *****) which he co-directed, composed and starred in. He has also written music for Origin; Unknown, Medea and The Snow Queen (all at Theatre Royal Stratford East). More recently he has directed In His Hands (Hackney Empire) and A Mother Speaks for the Okai Collier Company. He composed and directed the short film Cool Charm Corrected, which won funding from the Hitchcock Foundation. Currently Excalibah is working on projects for Theatre Royal Stratford East and Soho Theatre. Excalibah has lectured and directed workshops and projects for Cardboard Citizens, Soho Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Central School of Speech and Drama, Arts Council England and the NAYT. He is the youngest member on the Board of Directors and an Associate Artist at Theatre Royal Stratford East.
