People, places, colors, ideas and experiences. I like to create conceptual art that one can not only view and occasionally interact with, but experience and consume until all of their senses are alive with the satisfaction that it brings.

A punk rock band playing techno. Or a techno producer writing punk music, I'm not sure which. All while at a disco.
The tiniest of vibrations in a small metal needle as it rides the grooves etched in a plastic disc. If you amplify this, it has the unique potential of not only aurally illustrating your very thoughts and emotions, but also electrifying the world around you and breaking down every possible barrier you can imagine. Really it's a pretty neat phenomenon -one that continually fascinates me, anyway.
Here's the links to some of the sets I've recorded for free distribution over the years. I'm currently in the process of putting together a new mix, so stay tuned. Enjoy!
Tuesday Down - 2000 - Deep house for the long days. [77Mb]
Forgive Me For i Am Sin - 2001 - A concept album about manic depression. Or just freaking out in general, really. [87Mb]
Basketweaver - 2007 - Dark wave and electro disco. [93Mb]
I DJ and organize events in Madison, WI. I also design and build sound systems / speakers, do some graphics and artwork, and anything else that's creative and fun. You could say I'm service industry at heart. Something about the gradually increasing rush of chaos leading up the magic of an evening people remember fondly, setting everything up just right and taking them on a wonderful journey to somewhere that transcends all the crap we as a society put ourselves through on a daily basis; that's what keeps my spirit charged.
I occasionally fix stuff people bring me, but more often than not it's more trouble than it's worth. This is something I have a hard time telling people for some reason.
Berni-Rare B-Sides I was chilling out with some friends last Sunday afternoon when me & my buddy decided to crack open a couple of crates, dust off some old classics & spin some of that old wax just for the hell of it. Taking it in turns to try & out do each other.... it wasn't long before we we're straying away from the main mixes & going into obscure B-Side / Remix territory. A lot of fun discovering some old gold, not to mention some REALLY flakey remixes by some now BIG DJ's ; ) I picked my top 10 favourites of the session & decided to make this hour long retro mix with a twist. All tracks are recorded from the original 12" Vinyls which have seen toooooo many parties & most of them are 15-20 plus years old so expect some surface noise especially on the intros which wear down the fastest / get most abuse. Pretty much a straight mix with only a tad of digital f**king with. Great for an after hours trainspotting session or late night groove on ; ) You can hear / download it here...crackles & all.... www.djberni.com Genre's - House (all kinds), Breakbeat (when it was still part of a house track), Other (inspiration for all the others).
If you haven't seen this yet, we were recently on Urban Theatre in Madison, WI and they have posted a few of the songs on their page. Here is a link to us performing "Fireflies" live on the show:
If you search for "Gladstone" on their search tab you'll see 2 or 3 of the other songs we performed.
As always, if you like our material we'd appreciate any support! Our debut "Paper Sky", recent winner of MAMAs Pop Album of the Year, is on iTunes, CDbaby, Amazon, and Rhapsody. Links are on our page.

Hey DJ Foundation! Hope you can make it this weekend! I play Saturday @ 9pm
DIRECTIONS: Take Santa fe south past Highland Ranch. Take a right at Highway 67 at Sedalia. This is a tiny town with 2 gas stations and some mexican food and ice cream places. (this is you last chance to get anything you need) Set your trip milage counter to zero. Continue on up exactly ten miles and you will see a sign that says Rampart Range, Take a left on to the dirt road. Reset your trip counter again. Go 12 miles to the 12 mile marker and start looking on your right for a lime green sign and some glow sticks hanging about a quarter mile past the mile marker. Turn right up into the parking area and park. Park smart and make sure you will be able to get out and that no one will be able to park you in or you will have a hard time leaving. (I don't want to announce 50 times for people to move their cars like last year.)
Then follow the string trail down to the party area. If you are spinning or are with the prodution company we will have a special area to set up your tent away from the rukus behind the booth. Try to find me or Tom and have fun. If you need anything at all there is a WAL-MART and a Grocery store a few miles south of Sedalia on Santa Fe.
Just putting some work in on promotions, asking friends to vote for us in the Madison Area Music Awards if you haven't done so already. We're playing the nomination party, and although it would be funny to play the party but not actually make it to the next round, will you vote for us and help prevent that from happening? lol All the details are in our latest blog. Hope you're doing well, keep in touch brother.
