FRANK!! GOT ME right amongst peeps I truly love!
Alphabetical smetical! Doesn..t matter!! Thank U! for listening, understanding and obviously feeeeling me!!
And I must say, YOU AND I like alot of the same thangs!
Mos Def, Marvin, Master C&J to name a few!
(since he..s at the top of ya list) I gotta ask u, have u ever had the pleasure of hearing Larry Levan spin? His picks, his style STILL one of thee best I..ve ever heard, and I..ve heard many!!!! And the sound in PARADISE GARAGE made it ONLY more MAGICAL!!
The sound was MAGIC!!
SHARING a little story with U, MY FRIEND...
My first release JUST DON..T STOP THE DANCE on the bck side of LB SAYS (1988)-- before it was released, but finished, I imagined hearing it in the G. (what we called Paradise Garage-for short) It was more than imagination though! I HEARD it, in my mind, I felt it, I could SEE it-peoples reaction and all!
About 2 months before that record came out, PARADISE GARAGE closed! I swear if Larry would have came across the song (and he WOULD have got it!) I know he would have rocked it, and broke it!! I always had a gift, when after hearing a jock a few times, I could actually pick records for him-her! Now in the case of Larry Levan, I didn..t know it as I started buying, but I really played alot of what he was playing!
See, theres the normal club shit. (shit is not a negative term here!) Then theres what I call the ill shit! Garage Music (original term) Stood for sounds! Not just TYPICAL house or tech...but some EAR CANDY! Shit that u gotta know how to dance to, to dance to, cause it ain..t just 4-4 beats, if a beat at all...or soft, so soft that only in PARADISE GARAGE does one even hear the bass drum, cause my sound system at home is NO joke, but records JUST DON..T SOUND LIKE THAAAAAAT NOwhere, except the Garage. The sound, and the man who eq..d shit to the top POINT of HOLY SHIT, THATS EXCELLENT! Again and again and a
