BIG News: I've been hired to DJ at Radio Rexx (http://radio.rexx.com)! It's a New COMMERCIAL Free-Form Web Radio Station featuring The Weekend Kicker on Friday nights at 9PM EDT/EST (6PM Pacific)!
I find it truly hard to believe, but on September 28, 2007, I'll be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of my Weekend Kicker FM radio show at WUSC-FM at WUSC-FM (1977-1981) at The University of South Carolina. Don't miss my 30th Anniversary Weekend Kicker show to kick off USC Homecoming 2007 Weekend at 8PM on Friday September 28, 2007! You WILL hear Rooster On Steroids!
Thank you all VERY much for your support of my custom techno remix Rooster On Steroids, which I entered into the 2006 Battle Of The Bands from my page (DJ Gamecock) at ISound.com last May 1-29. Promoting it was LOTS of fun, even though I really didn't have much chance to place near the top. I did manage to get the tune played on a couple of open-air broadcast radio stations (WUSC-FM + WXRY-FM in Columbia, SC) which was COOL!
On May 5th 2006, DJ Special Ed of 95-SX in Charleston, SC helped me to get it played at The Plex, which is part of the national House Of Blues club network. What a HUGE thrill it was for me that night, with a packed house for their Cinco de Mayo celebration, to hear Rooster On Steroids be played live at 1,500 watts on SOUTH CAROLINA'S LARGEST DANCE FLOOR! After Special Ed had announced to the crowd that "DJ Gamecock is in the house tonight!", I got nervous about how that big crowd would react to it. Since they don't play much techno there, I had a strange fear it might even clear off the dance floor. But as soon as the tune started... WOW! A bunch of hot chicks were RUNNING TO THE STAGE to dance to it! The whole crowd got into it and watching them, with my tune playing louder than I had EVER heard it before, was simply AMAZING!
Over the years, I have worked at several broadcast radio stations, done many DJ gigs at private parties and in clubs (even on New Years Eve!), plus run sound and lights for several bands. But, that night has to be WAY up there among my all-time most exciting music thrills! I know the fact that I used to be a jock at 95-SX in Charleston (WSSX-FM 95.1) helped make that possible. Thanks again to Special Ed, The Plex, my loyal fans and all my WUSC Alumni friends!
