When it comes to House Music today, Hamza is perhaps one of the most innovative and dynamic DJ/Producers around. Having grown up in India for 17 years & lived in Paris, Boston & New York, Hamza’s International exposure along with a strong musical background, has led to the creation of a sound so unique that listeners all over the world have started noticing his productions, and are eagerly waiting for his first release.
At the age of 27, Hamza has already worked with some of the biggest names in world music. These artists include Punjabi Icon “Jasbir ..Jassi”, Female Indian Classical Maestro “Sunanda Sharma” and David Hykes, who is the only Western Artist specializing in Sacred Mongolian chants. Besides these artists, he has also worked with Taz from Stereo Nation, which was the highest selling Indian Pop Fusion act ever. Hamza & Taz are about to launch their band by the name of “Chilli Town”, which is a melting pot of Disco, Electro, Rock and Funk sounds, featuring some of the best musicians from the U.K.
While gaining production experience with a wide range of artists, Hamza’s passion for House Music has kept growing over time. After listening to DJ’s like Terry Francis, Dave Mothersole, Asad Rizvi, DJ Heather, Carl Cox and Danny Tanaglia, he started creating his own style of House Music, combining Deep, Tribal & Funky sounds with strong world music influences. His first release, Sufi Soul EP gives us a small taste of this vibrant production style.
In 2005, Hamza finished his Masters in Music Business from New York University, where he wrote his Thesis on Webcasting and the future of the Music Business. These two years have given him a very strong foundation and insight into how to go about creatively pushing his own music and other talent from India and musically rich corners of the world.
Currently, Hamza is launching his own Label called “Wind Horse Records”, which will be dedicated to pushing his own productions, along with those of like those of like- minded producers. These releases will also feature well-known World Music Artists who want to explore new territory, and take their art to new audiences all over the globe. In the meantime, Hamza has been burning up floors in Boston, New York, Portugal, France, New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune. His sets start of with the best Deep House Grooves, heavily influenced by Latin/Afro/Funk/Jazz/World Flavors, and then move in powerful Tribal and Electro/Prog beats that are perfect peak-time Killers!!! |
