Got infected with electronic dance music in the late 80s/ early 90s, but those were the first "rave" parties by Kaspars Vanags that blew my mind away irreversibly. Also, DJs Janis Krauklis (the first proper DJ in USSR), Moro+Vitkus, AG+Raitis, UK Top 40, Radiodejas, ZB show, Latvian Beat movement, PTUCH magazine and some of my school-mates to blame :)
By 1996 I was already a regular visitor (and a fan) of the legendary thursdays (first regular e-music nights in Latvia) at a local students club "Panna". DJs became my friends, my friends became DJs, so no wonder that I became a DJ, too - in 1996 I bought my first vinyl record - Eszid Mjuzik by Dash on Djax-up-beats (or was it Dan Curtin's album?) - and a second-hand belt-drive soviet turntable Arija to start learning the alchemy of beat-matching and playing of records in general.
The beginning was a usual one - playing in a bedroom (actually that was a living room) and some private house parties, then starting DJing in some more public parties and clubs eventually. In 1999 hooked up with a Latvian band Sirke, carrying out the function of a DJ/sampler for them. In 2000 I got my first DJing residency at Casablanca club. Other regular DJing spots included the legendary Pulkvedis (where I'm still playing time after time), Metro club, local festivals and Boogaloo crew's parties in Lithuania.
Since 2003 I'm living in Luxemburg, but still frequently DJing in Latvia. Apart from the Baltics and Luxemburg, I have performed in Finland (Jump Inn, Helsinki) and Germany (Golden Pudel Club, Haus73 and Washington Bar in Hamburg and Cafe Burger in Berlin).
I'm also a co-founder of netcords.net netlabel and co-editor of Jaffa Magazine.
