Hey Dave, here's a video from Left Lane Cruiser's Paris gig : on www.onetwothreefour.net (a pretty good Paris rock webzine with frequent video reports of notable gigs, well worth checking out; they've got a page here on myspace)
  • Nov 1 2009 2:36 PM

Just exchanged a couple of words with Joe outside during the second band's set. The gig with the Black Diamond Heavies is in Mantes-la-Jolie, in the far suburbs of Paris (50 km west), with the Blues-sur-Seine Festival. Going there's pretty easy with the suburban trains, coming back after the show much less so, but it should be worth a couple of hours spent looking then waiting for some night bus in a deserted concrete jungle, hé ! That'll just be an extra dose of punk blues
  • Nov 1 2009 12:07 AM

Yup, there was quite a bit of outcry on french garage rock forums when it was first announced (we ain't got any punk blues forum that I know of) - the original announcement had them in small prints below the two other bands. The organiser tried to pass it off as "no, no, it's a misunderstanding, it's a triple gig equally shared" and so on, but they still got less than their share of promo, I feel, and they were still first set - which in a way was real cruel to the kids taking the scene afterward, they just couldn't compare. I mean, I guess I'm grateful to the organisers LLC had the gig in the first place, but man, talk about misplacement and clumsiness...
  • Oct 31 2009 1:53 PM

    Too much bouncin' & a hollerin'...thats it,thats what caused it !!!

    They were on first ?????
  • Oct 31 2009 1:45 PM

Yah, I think Left Lane Cruiser did get a strong audience response in Paris (for what I could see beyond my own bouncing and hollering) - alas that the audience was rather small, as it usually is for the first band of three, it always takes the first hour for the room to fill here. I'm not sure how many people discovered the band yesterday. I'm decided for their gig with the Black Diamond Heavies on the 28th - I'll just have to find some way to get back to Paris afterwards.
Word is, you were rather tired toward the end of their London show. Are you well recovered ? Maybe it's the flu, you should be careful.

    Hey Dave,

Leaving Miss Blue (one of the bands I've despaired to ever hear more than a couple tracks here or on compilations from) is climbing out of its slumber, with gigs and maybe a European tour in the plans, and for now an EP and an upcoming LP.
You may remember them from Max Shores' "Songs Inside the Box" - if not, would you check them out here on http://www.myspace.com/leaving_miss_blue and, if you feel it's worth a deeper listen, get one of their advance copies from them ? I'd really like it if there'd be enough of a buzz from them to manage that hop to our side of the Atlantic someday...

    Thanks.
