Tastes Like: Futuristic disco-funk jam spread on warm electro toast.
I am not Ernest Hemingway. Nor do I want to be compared to such a literary legend. I am merely a 22 year old Torontonian with an affinity for all that is funky and sticky fresh. To be bluntly honest, the name just kind of sprung up out of nowhere like a bad habit. When I was younger, the idea of sporting a hip DJ alias.. such as something along the lines of DJ-"insert famous literary figure here" seemed appealing, and well, Hemingway clicked. So I'm rolling with it.
On that note, I'm not really a DJ yet. I've only started taking the whole electronic music thing seriously until pretty much this year. My school went on strike for three months, which was kind of lame, but nonetheless, it was suitable time for me to reassess what the hell I wanted to do with my life. I guess I probably should have done some schoolwork over this "break", but out of lots of boredom, some music was made. And it was funky. And I thought, "Yeahhhhhh... I can dig it." And dug it I did. Just a big hole of funk. Now I'm knee-deep in it.
Bad metaphors aside, I make music mostly for my own personal satisfaction. If you like it, that's cool. If you hate it, that's cool too. I have only just started my frontier into the vast universe of sound, this cosmic smorgasborg of mutating genres and styles, and I have a long way to go. Yet I can always draw influence from the past: the golden age of disco and funk, when dance music was soulful, warm, and sassy. A time of grooves so melodic and magical that they could tear up the discotheque at night or compliment a nice sunny day basking in the warm ocean breeze whilst sipping champagne on a yacht. Those were the days. Why not bring them back? We have the technology.
Yo, I just stumbled across your name and music today as I was searching for fresh new quality music. I'm really impressed, you're stuffs right. Keep on goin
Oh man its good to hear from you! I thought you were dead or something? I know that you ride with a pretty violent crew. And I know that when it all goes down you're usually the first person to open fire with your Tech9. Thats just how you do. And I respect that. You're a gangsta and nobody is ever gonna change that about you. Ride or Die man. RIDE OR DIE.
