DJ Ilamad was born in the grimy ghetto of North Philadelphia. His estranged father killed his mother in front of him when he was 10 with a shot gun. He simply smiled at him for a brief second and turned the gun on himself. DJ Ilamad spent the next 15 years living in the streets. He bounced from abandoned homes to shelters, always searching for a purpose to his life.
One night 5 years ago, he saw a young lady named Selena Diaz playing an acoustic guitar in the basement of a homeless shelter. DJ Ilamad watched her fingers for twenty minutes and asked if he could try using her guitar. DJ Ilamad was able to play back every song that Selena just played. He even played the most haunting interpretation of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” ever heard. That was the moment he discovered his purpose for life.
Dj Ilamad bought a cheap old black acoustic guitar with money he raised by collecting cans and started playing songs on the corners for change. His playing was so brilliant that in less three months he made enough money to move into a trendy flat in the expensive and highly artistic neighborhood of Old City Philadelphia. He quickly discovered that he could also play the drums, bass and piano as if he had been playing all his life.
One Friday evening, he was invited by his neighbor to attend a poetry event in the city called The Underground Storm. That is when he first heard and saw spoken word artists. DJ Ilamad was struck in the heart and soul with what he saw and heard. They had an open Mic. that night and he went on stage. Under the lone spotlight, a man with tragedy in his soul and music in his heart expressed himself freely and openly. He received the only standing ovation ever. DJ Ilamad utilizing freestyle spoken word, moved the crowd to tears and incredible applause. DJ Ilamad was now complete. DJ Ilamad started hanging out and eventually featuring in famous poetry venues around the city of Philadelphia, Baltimore and New York. Dj Ilamad went on a national college tour for 18 months and mesmerized them in his wake.
While Dj Ilamad was happy spreading his gifts of spoken word poetry to the world, he felt discontented artistically. His deepest desire was to express himself by utilizing both of his gifts. So he began developing his style of playing instruments while performing spoken word. The underground scene embraced his new style with incredible passion.
DJ Ilamad is always reinventing himself personally and artistically. So he has now embraced the electronica/ house music dance underground. He has begun to fuse his eclectic spoken word poetry with intense and powerful electronica/house music. He intends to release his first CD, Poetica Psychedelia this year for his new ambitious underground scene platform. Poetica Psychedelia will have searing dance music and house music with his spoken word and a bevy of the absolute hottest poets from around the world contributing.

I have a new tune on my other myspace called 'Jazzy Blue' ~
This is the first time I've gotten to record within my brand spanking new ~ totally optimized Ashram / Asylum ~ & I must say with this updated digital recording facility & some new axes to grind ~ it is truly a luxury at it's finest ~ at least it is for me me me !!!!! So here it is ~ just a rhythm track I'd made over the last couple of days ~ in order to acclimate myself with all the new toys I now have at my disposal . . . I'll be writing lots of new lyrics as well as new music ~ for both of my upcoming projects ~ the follow-up to my debut CD now available on Moiko Records ~ it's a new concept album I've been (Ben) working on for over a year & a half ~ as well as the awesome new version of The Altruistic Messiah's latest touring band ~ a line up consisting of life long friends & a few of the most amazingly talented new individuals I have just recently had the honor to become associated with ! I am always wishing each & every one of you the very best ~ & this continues to be the primary focus of any & all communication between us as individuals ~ it is my belief that this concern is fundamental in the advancement of humanity ~ & that this is the reason we are alive ~ that this is what we are living for ~ as human nature must transcend into something greater than it ever has been (Ben) ~ as every single one of us collectively evolve into everything we are destined to realize ~ & we must leave no man or woman behind ~ STOP WAR ~ I know I go way off the beat & path often ~ but I love everyone !!!!!!
