Born in 1978 into a famous artist family in Iran, Ishtar settled in the Netherlands in 1990.
Being a passionate traveler, she collected music from all over, during her journeys and started sharing her love for world music with others in 2000.
In 2003 she was discovered by the Nomads (Amsterdam) and became their resident DJ. Ever since things have gone fast and she has performed in many national and international venues.* According to the occasions, she plays different styles, from filmic and fairytale like atmospheric mellow moods, to mystic lounge and upbeat world dance. Her main focus is contemporary, electronic global fusion music, taking the listener from where the sun rises to where it goes down.

Deeply inspired by Sufism & Persian Mystic poetry, Ishtar is also a Sufi dancer (whirler) and has her own Sema group Whirlwind in Amsterdam. Occasionally she whirls live on stage with Sufi musicians.
