- 11/6/07 Update -
Aiight. After about 15 years, I finally updated some of my beats, which you can see is now bumpin out of this brand spankin new fancy schmancy imeem player right above. This way, I can load more songs and you guys can search through the tracks to listen to the different parts instead of having to listen all the way through. Hopefully yall like this better.
So in terms of gigs, I'm trying some new things. First of all, I got this show "Soul Glo" on Wednesday the 7th at Matador with my man Deedot. All 80's and 90's jams that are sure to bring back a memory or 2. Also, I'm going to be back at Namu (namubar.com) again this coming Sunday...for their brunch shindig. Come check it out...
Ok, bye.
- Bio -
DJ Jay Slim began DJ'ing in 1993 and very quickly showed promise for the art of DJ'ing. It being a time of low popularity for DJ'ing, Jay Slim was often referred to as "the last DJ" by his peers and developed his skills purely for the love of it.
In 1995, Jay Slim the turntablist was born. A videotape of the 1994 DMC US Finals was passed to Jay Slim. Never seeing pure turntablism before, he was blown away by the fact that the turntable was being used to actually MAKE instead of simply play music. He immediately went to his room and practiced for 4 hours straight until he could imitate DJ Shortkut's Pistolgrip Pump routine to perfection.
In 1997, Jay Slim entered his first battle and came to dominate the scene, unofficially earning the title of "King of LA". Since then, he has competed and placed in the prestigious DMC and ITF championships, innovated new styles and techniques of turntablism, performed and recorded with major recording artists, rocked crowds internationally, taught classes and seminars, co-founded the norcalDJMPA school of music, and appeared on numerous publications, tv shows, and even the big screen.
After retiring from the battle scene in 2001, Jay Slim's focus shifted towards the roots of party-rocking, and he has recently stepped into the arena of Hip-hop/R&B/Soul production.
Jay Slim is a member of the Cerritos All-Star and Top Rawmen crews.

Yeah, I'm down. Just gotta practice doing my behind the back, between the legs, then scratch with my hair nostrils killer combo routine and it's all good. Oh yeah, gotta do the finger stretches too. Can never forget about the finger stretches!
Just let me know what day so I can make sure I don't have any other gigs going on.
