DJ João Ricardo was born in 1977 in São Luís, Maranhão – Brazil. He is a pioneering deejay in São Luís electronic music scene. Way back in 1990 he started out djing and faced a lot of obstacles as usual in his native city. In love with his profession he began playing in his neighbourhood and birthday parties. Three years later he had his first opportunity to play in a famous night club of that time. In 1994 he moved to Rio de Janeiro where he had chance to get acquainted with some deejays like Mauricio Lopes and Ricadinho NS among others, his knowledge about electronic music was developing. After one year, he returns to his homeland bringing with him lots of news and presented them all to local deejays of that time genres like House Music, Garage, Electro. He was very criticized because he had liked those new different sounds and even called “Insane” by the Dj’s. As time went by, he kept spreading those new genres through Radio stations and Clubs, making the way to establish an electronic music scene yet still embryonic in São Luís. In 1996 he returned to Rio de Janeiro and realized that the electronic music culture had moved to other directions that he did not appreciate, so he decided to go to São Paulo where things out there improved even more his knowledge about electronic music. He frequented clubs like Sound Factory, Club Nation, Hells Club, among others and at May 24 Gallery he got acquainted with Dj’s that became great friends up till now. João Ricardo also experienced other genres like Tribal House, Funk House, Breakbeat. Back again to São Luís in 1997, he brought other new music styles like Breakbeat, Techno and Drum'n'Bass and once more being criticized by Dj’s for being different but even thought contributing to the electronic music spread. In 1998 he returns São Paulo and remains there up to 2001 working in Dj Stores (Up Dance Music, Box 12, MR.CD, Future Music), true show windows for Dj’s at that time. He ended up supplying different music style records to Dj’s in São Luís, this good “kick-off” helped to introduce the main Eletronic Music styles in his State ( House, Techouse, Filter Funk, Electro, Breakbeat, Electro House, Minimal, Techno). He also played in several nightclubs in São Paulo as well as in others cities and states like Trancoso- Bahia, Arraial da Judá- Bahia, Brasília, Vitória- Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro. Those presentations in Brazil gave him opportunity to play in Bariloche- Argentina. When he returned to his homeland once and for all, he decided to stay to help raise the the e-music flag. He realized that he could make success in Brazil and all over the world without leaving from his beautiful island São Luís. Awaring of this possibility and with no fear to expand horizons, João Ricardo began to produce his own tunes and to promote his own events.
Since then, the national career of this hard-working Deejay has been growing more and more. He became resident in some nightclubs, won prizes published in websites and newspapers for being of one those people who shakes briskly the local scene, he also shared stages with great national and international artists that came to São Luís and participated in all great events of his state, events like MPM, MM Festival, Celebration among others which included Eletronic Tents in their programmings. Nowadays he leads a Dj-school for those who intend to learn djing and to play eletronic music in São Luís. E-Music For All!

Natural de são Luis - MA, nascido em 1977, a carreira do DJ João Ricardo é pioneiro na cena eletrônica em São Luis do Maranhão. Começou com algumas dificuldades, como é de costume na sua cidade.
Em 1990, começou a discotecar em sua cidade natal. Apaixonado pela profissão, Seguiu tocando em festinhas de bairros e aniversario, em 1993 teve sua primeira oportunidade em uma boate famosa da época, a partir de 1994, foi morar no Rio de Janeiro e lá conheceu djs como Mauricio Lopes e Ricadinho NS entre outros, e lá sua cultura pela musica eletrônica foi crescendo.
Em 1995 voltando para sua terrinha trazendo novas culturas, mostrou para os DJs da época estilos como house, garage, electro.
Foi muito criticado e até chamado de louco pelos DJs por gostar de estilos diferentes, com o tempo foi divulgado os estilos em radio boates fezendo abrir espaço na capital São Luis para a proliferação da musica eletrônica, ainda embrionária no local.
Em 1996 retornado ao Rio de Janeiro, notou que a cultura tinha mudado para alguns estilos que não o agradava e resolveu mudar-se para são Paulo onde a cultura pela music eletrônica cresceu ainda mais. Freqüentando clubs como Sound Factory, Club Nation, Hells Club, entre outros. Lá conheceu alguns DJs da galeria 24 de maio entre outros q viraram grandes amigos até hoje. Mudondo-se para outros estilos como tribal house, funk house, breakbeat.
Voltou novamente em 1997 para São Luis-MA divulgando novos estilos como breackbeat, techno e drum'n'bass. Recebendo novamente preconceitos ele foi enfrentado por alguns djs da época por ser diferente no estilo musical e abrindo novamente mais espaço na capital para a proliferação da musica eletrônica por onde permaneceu até 1998.
Em 1998 retorna a São Paulo e permanece até 2001 trabalhando em loja para DJs (Up Dance Music, Box 12, MR.CD, Future Music) entre outras, verdadeiras vitrines para os djs que lá trabalharam, e acabou fornecendo discos com estilos diferente para DJs da sua cidade, "um bom começo" acabou que introduzindo a maioria das vertentes eletronica no seu estado como (house, techouse, funk filterd, electro, breackbeat, drum & bass, electro house, minimal, techno).
Tocou em varias casas noturna e interiores de são Paulo e outros estados Salvador Bahia, Trancoso Bahia, Arraial da Judá Bahia, Brasília, Vitória Espírito Santo e Rio de Janeiro. Suas apresentações pelo Brasil lhe renderam a oportunidade de tocar em Bariloche na Argentina.
Ao retornar de vez para sua terrinha viu que o movimento eletrônico tinha mudado muito para o que era antes, e resolveu ficar para levantar a bandeira da e-music na sua terra natal. Percebeu que poderia fazer sucesso pelo Brasil e pelo mundo mesmo morando na bela Ilha São Luis, começando a produzir suas musicas. Sem medo de expandir seus horizontes J.Ricardo promoveu seus próprios eventos com musica eletrônica na sua cidade.
Desde então, a carreira nacional de J. Ricardo só cresceu: Tornou-se residente de algumas casa noturnas, já dividiu o palco com grandes nomes nacionais e internacionais que vinham a sua cidade. Ganhou como Destaque de sites e jornais para aqueles que agitavam a cena.
A carreira do J.Ricardo DJ e hoje produtor seguiu passo a passo. Participou de todos os grandes eventos do seu estado, Festivais como MPM, MM Festival, Celebration entre outros. Esteve presente em todas as edições, desde a primeira, e tambem participando de outros eventos com tendas eletrônica.
Hoje tambem está a frente de uma escola para DJs que queirão tocar musica eletrônica na sua cidade.
