Joaquin Jimenez (DJ, Producer, Provider of good times)
His musical passion began at young age while attending parties at
school and was strengthened when he hosted a music show in the mid
nineties in a local radio station where he started playing records and
electronic music. After attending courses at "DJs School" in Mexico
City, he started to perform in parties and clubs in northern Mexico,
where he shaped a distinctive style characterized by powerful and fun
sets, bringing new sounds to the local club culture, without excluding
playing other musical trends. His expressive and distinctive style
allowed him respect from local promoters and DJs.
Joaquin has been the leading DJ in numerous clubs, parties and
after-parties in Monterrey, Mexico City and many other mexican cities.
During his career, he has been the DJ resident in all the best clubs
and events in Monterrey City (Mexico). Joaquin has played alongside
Top DJs like John Creamer & Stephane K, Lee Burridge, Jimmy Van M,
Saeed Younan and Sandra Collins among others, as well as with leading
Mexican DJs like Andres Mijangos, Martin Parra and Nortec. He has
recorded many compilation CDs that have been praised by many
listeners, artists, and producers. His original productions and
remixes have been well appreciated by DJs and promoters. He received
an award from Primal Sounds in 2005 for best mix, and his sets are and
have been broadcasted in radio stations in and outside Mexico in the
past few years.
Right now Joaquin is also exploring new directions by working with new
technologies for performing and producing, the same technologies used
by acts like Daft Punk, Sasha and Paul Van Dyk. Performing live with
jazz and electronic musicians and doing harmonic mixing that brings a
new energy and solid feel to his DJ sets. Joaquin is now resident DJ
at Pacifica, Atlantica, Riviera and Royal in Monterrey City, Mexico, sharing his knowledge by teaching upcoming DJs the art of mixing right. Joaquin is also working on his own productions and sounds, some of his production work can be found at Beatport.com
