DJ JURI is a female DJ/Producer and a creator of dance music known as TAIKO DUB – unique Japanese tribal dance music.
She has an extensive career as a DJ and played at major clubs such as “ageHa”, “WOMB”, “ASIA”, “AIR” “YELLOW” and many others in Japan. Received many international interests, she played in countries like Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea and Australia, to name a few.
With her background of shifting from a HOUSE dancer to a DJ, she naturally creates a space with TAIKO DUB to make the crowds dance madly.
She also has a proven sales record of her original dance tracks - 3 out of 5 “TAIKO DUB EP” series were No1 hits in CISCO HOUSE sales chart – The continuous No1 hits of her original tracks made her known as a talented producer in Japan.
Her latest full album, “The World of TAIKO DUB” (released by Flower Records in 2008) was elaborated by collaborating with different cultural music in various countries.
She produced “ABORHYTHM” with Australian aboriginal artist, Russell Dawson for this album. JURI’s unique dance music with aboriginal traditional messages and tunes was highly regarded among international music critics.
She was also appointed by Australian Embassy in Tokyo as a goodwill music ambassador between Japan and Australia – She produced a track called “Tasmani@.jp” (Tasmani at-mark dot JP) by sampling nature sounds of Tasmania in Australia and transformed them into a cozy house music featuring Tasmania.
Her original world of music and international activities were highly appraised by global music companies - she receives official support by the companies such as DENON DJ and UDG.
In 2006, she formed a unit called “KUNOICHI – female Ninja” with a female TAIKO player MIHO to add live performance with her DJ set. DJ JURI joins playing TAIKO as well - a mixture of TAIKO DUB and live percussive sounds give the crowds ultimate experience on the dance floor in the world.
