When it comes to passion, energy and living a life in tune with feelings you might meet Kara, ( or Dany how her friends call her) a person with some of the most special combinations of interests, you can meet in the music world. Dany was born on the lucky day ;-) 7.7.77 in Germany and grew up in the countryside.
Two main interests have always influenced her (besides love): music and wildlife, especially birds. Her whole life she has balanced both hobbies, playing with her chicken and goose when she was a kid and later watching video clips of favourite singers and bands to learn dancing & singing. She loved dance music early but later on her interests turned to hard rock and heavy metal. Kara used to sneak to discos in the night to join gogo dance contests and later went head banging at rock concerts with her friends. Her musical tastes may have shifted a little, but she always loved the energetic aspects most of whatever style she was interested in. Kara met her best friend when she was 17, who was a guitar player in a punk rock band and so she became the singer of that rock band “Different sights” for a few years. They played on several small parties; Kara did songwriting, creating most melodies and later on arrangment of their tracks as well.
After Kara finished school, she did a graduation as a sports teacher and moved away from home to live in the city and to work as a gogo dancer. She won the title “disco queen of Nordrhein Westfalen” and went to Spain to compete in the finals.
In Spain she met her first Dutch lover and not even half a year later she moved to the Netherlands to start a new life with him. Learning Dutch was very difficult but she loved the language, the people, the country, and especially Dutch dance music so she knew this was the place she wanted to be, but sometimes things work out different than you want and so she had to move back to Germany.
Kara was a dancer for more than 8 years, but as musical tastes started shifting more to hip-hop and RnB she decided to focus more on the DJ'ing aspects of her career to keep on enjoying trance in the clubs.
After working hard for several months she bought her first turntables, mixer and all basic equipment you need to teach yourself the art of being a DJ. Not being extremely familiar with computers, her first mixes were all published on tape. She developed a relationship with Ari, the founder of internet dance music station DI.FM to whom she regularly sent her mixes,cuz he liked them a lot. Over time Kara became more farmiliar with technology and was able to distribute her mixes in MP3 via the internet where she became even more popular as her sets made their way across the world. An early highlight of her DJ career was being the opening DJ at a location where formerly she had danced. Naturally her popularity grew and her first headlining gig was a small restaurant-cafe “König”in Mühlheim, and later joined the resident Dj in Nightlife, another venue in Mühlheim. Than she came in contact with her first german booking agency which wasn’t a reliable one to work with,so she quit workin with them after a while and was taken over by her first dutch booking agency. That agency was more based on workin with cover bands,so she worked parallel also with another new german artist management.Sad as it is,that agency also didn’t really work on the dj skills and styles,so she decided to work on her own again. Kara regularly makes mixes which are played by radio stations around the world such as:
www.etn.fm, www.jenny.fm, www.protozyk.com, www.tranceradio.ch, www.globalbeats.com, www.hightechradio.nl, www.terpsychore-musica.com, www.AuraSF.com, www.sky-one-radio.com, …. Kara has won several DJ mix contests such as "the best live mix CD" selected from DTF music crew; and she took 3rd place in the DJ contest at one of the hippest clubs Belgium, Atmoz. It took a while to get internationally recognized, but now she worked in 20 countries all around the world,on every populated continent except Australia which she looks forward to very much to play someday.
She has performed in : Belgium, Brazil, China, Colombia, Czech, Ecuador, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mallorca, Mexico, Netherlands, Oman, Poland, Russia, Sardinia, Spain, Turkey, and Ukraine. Kara has played alongside international stars like Rank 1, Tiesto, Marcel Woods, Fred Baker, Johan Gielen, Ron van den Beuken, 4 Strings, Shaun Baker, Caba Kroll, Future Breeze, Essential DJ Team, Doug Laurent, Nico Parisi, and DJ Luna.
Kara's goal is to inspire people with melodical NRG trance and also give them the message to be careful with our world and nature. Her musical style is always very energetic, she plays her trance and electro house with lots of speed and she also tries to entertain the crowd with her acting. She knows how to animate people, a skill developed through her time as a gogo dancer, so she is very active with the crowd, talks and sings through microphone and jumps and claps her hands to get the people crazy of music :-).
She’s had some hard times, but the power of music always keeps her up, fighting for everything she loves and what is important in life. Her style has been influenced by her longtime friends Rank 1 and Alphazone and recently Sean Tyas. Now she is quite well known all around the world but most popular in Mexico where she has been invited for several tours. While she loves to work in discothèques at night, she prefers to spend her daytime in bird parks, zoos, or hiking through the rain forest. Kara keeps contact with birder’s all around the world and is continuously promoting them and their birds, putting them in contact and generally helping any way she can.
Kara's slogan is to save the rain forest which is the world’s most important climate zone and do whatever possible to fight against the global warming and she practices what she preaches! She is almost vegetarian, uses recycle paper and tries to make less waste and use less energy.
Kara is currently breeding back ancient chicken from South America, studies them and practice for her future goal to breed rare exotic birds and save them from extinction.
In late 2007 Kara finally finished her first production, a collaboration with Matthew K. ,which is remixed by Vengeance and after the master is done it’ll be ready to sale…Her second track “into the sun” is made in summer 2008 and is remixed now by one of her favorite producers “Airbase”. She just came back from Bucharest,Romania where she produced another uplifting track with Daniel Costache aka "Waterspark",which will amaze some of you out there,cuz it’s quite of a new sound combination.
