Ka§par started his producing career, alongside his dj'ing some 12 years ago. First with a modest sampler, then gradually increasing his skills to further incorporate live elements, wacky synths and mad effects...
His first production output was a strange Kuduro cd called "Profundas Explorações", at the age of fourteen, in 1996.
He's release a handfull of originals, remixes and colaborations (as you can see below). He resides and works in Portugal, a small and (sometimes small minded), although sunny, warm and beautifull piece of land in the
Western European coastline.
As a DJ, it all started when he became a regular costumer of an important record "dealer" in Lisbon (Mr. Lino Rodrigues, now resident in Munich), with whom he developed a tight friendship that broadened his musical knowledge and aspirations. Shortly after, he met Rui Murka - one of Lisbon's legends and former Cooltrain Crew founder - who is also a colaborator and good friend, and gave him the chance to integrate an unlikely residency in Lisbon's top club - Frágil - which remains active ever since he was 17 (www.fragil.com.pt). He has performed in almost every corner of Portugal, and with the ocasional international gig.
He was selected to integrate the talented group of young up-and-coming artists for the 2005 edition of the Red Bull Music Academy (term 1), in Seattle.
This reinforced his relationship with numerous other like-minded artists (either established or budding), and helped integrate the label which he helped develop, in the mapa mundi (groovement recordings - www.groovement.net). Groovement is a project dating back to 2001, when he hooked up with DJ Jackzen (António Alves) and radio guru Rui Torrinha, in order to help his under rated country establish a visible and credited music label, rooted in jazz influences, but very sawy in Techno, Hip Hop, Deep Electronic House, Abstract Disco, Broken Beat and numerous other genres (pointless to mention - it's all good).
Genre division is a stupid concept... music is either good or bad - you like it or you don't - so Ka§par's productions are fusionistic, varied in tempo and aesthetics, and eclectic. In his 25th year of existence, he has seen his first solo 12" , Shifting Destiny, on his own editorial project, built with absolutely no outside help. Groovement is DIY and Ka§par has been Made By Himself!............................................................................................................................................................................................................
