DJ K Black is one of the most sought after dee-jay’s in the industry. His history with turntablism began at the early age of sixteen-teen in New York in the birthplace of hip-hop, The South Bronx, New York. Son to an avid music collector Dj K Black wasn’t introduced to music but raised on it. In the era of original 12-inch vinyl, Dj K Black got his start dee-jaying community events and for local charities then to the clubs where his selections represent the city in-which he comes from.
Success happens when preparation meets opportunity, which is why DJ K Black went from dee-jaying charity and local community events then building to many New York the hotspots in the tri-state area. Quickly developing a name for himself, DJ K Black gained momentum at clubs and parties and became renowned for his music savvy ears, quick hands and widespread appeal. People quickly took notice of his powerful style and universal personality as his fanbase expanded and he began slinking around clubs and into the public eye, deejaying not only in New York but, all around the U.S. Bringing together huge crowds in many markets he is in demand. He has been recognized on the party scene for his consistently playing a seamless combination of diverse rhythms and genres creating a distinct dee-jaying style for him.
Throughout his career, he has dee-jay’ed several prominent events such as album release parties, and premium events alongside the industry’s best entertainers and sports figures. Attendees include Dancehall’s superstar Sean Paul, Kerry Rhodes of the New York Jets, Travis Barker of Gym Class Heroes, and many other recording artist such as Cassie, Rick Ross, The Dream, Jeremih, Legendary Rock Star Joan Jett, Wilmer Valderrama & Talib Kweli just to name a few. Some of the dee-jay he has dee-jay’ed alongside include: Power 105.1’s Suss.One, Mtv’s Cipha Sounds, DJ A.M. and many more. Dj K Black has also made appearances on the legendary ‘Video Music Box’ (New York) and on the several college tours including stops at University of Massachusetts, UCONN, Yale, Temple, & Penn State.
Dj K black also has a very extensive list of philanthropic efforts as well. He has donated his services to help several charities and causes in his career such as Urban Go Green, Urban Mentors, Enviorlution, Aspira and Aemricorps. One of his most memorable experiences was: “I arrived at club NV and started to open for a dj that I consider my mentor and my needles broke. I had back ups but imagine a needle moving from the edge to the center and not realizing it cause your listening to the other turntable in cue. I literally was in a zone…”
At the young age of twenty-five, Dj K Black has only gotten better with time and doesn’t look like he’s stopping anytime soon.
