FRANCAIS : Ayant grandi avec des parents mélomanes qui écoutaient Miles Davis, Tito Puente, Barbara et leurs pairs, Kwak reçoit son premier choc musical personnel en découvrant le rap de SugarHill gang et le hard rock de Motörhead.
Les premières soirées en tant que dj (pour les amis étudiants) ont lieu à la fin des années 80 en même temps que les premières répétitions dans des groupes de garage punk ( en tant que chanteur). En 1994, kwak commence à organiser des soirées et des concerts et, bientôt, se retrouve dj - résident et programmateur au Kafe Kan’h (de 1999 à 2004). Comme chanteur du groupe punkfunk Wallbanger (1994 - 98), il reçoit un accueil critique important sur la florissante scène bruxelloise. En 2002, il commence à organiser les soirées Strictly Niceness en compagnie de Dj Eleven, des soirées mensuelles dédiées au funk et à la soul qui lui ont attiré la reconnaissance des amateurs, des danseurs et des professionnels.
Dans le même temps, il travaille comme ingénieur du son pour de nombreux artistes de la scène hip hop ragga belge et parisienne. Uman Azrock, Raggamuffin Whiteman enregistrent chez lui leurs dubplates et leurs démos, Smimmoz Excell la compilation 9MM Parrabellum Mc ‘s.
En tant que dj, il a partagé les platines avec des dj’s internationaux comme Quantic (Tru Thoughts Records), Paul Murphy (Afro Art records), Marc Mac (UK/4Hero), Rainer Trueby (Compost Records), Soul Rabbi, Nostalgia 77 (Tru Thoughts Records), Gruyere Dj (New Cheese Records), Mad Mats (Raw Fusion), ainsi qu’avec la crème des dj belges : Bass Culture Soundsystem, Murvin Jay, Dj Lefto, Bernard Dobbeleer (Classic 21), Brekbit (FM Brussel), Dj Simon Le Saint (Skinfama, PIAS), K Bonus (Pulver Records), Snooba (Vinyl Amalgame), Smos, Doc CLD, Onda Sonora Soundsystem et bien d’autres encore. Il aaussi joué en première partie d’artistes comme Aka Moon, Alice Russell ou encore The Peas Project.
Présentement, Kwak écume les bars et soirées de Bruxelles (Le Tavernier, Roi des Belges, Belga, La Maison du Peuple …), travaille sur les soirées Strictly Niceness, et est régulièrement invité à Anvers. Il anime également une émission radio appelée BACK TO NICENENESS RADIOSHOW sur FM BRUSSEL (www.fmbrussel.be) tous les samedis de 18H à 19h.

Growing up with a "musical" dad listening to Miles Davis , Coupé Cloué, Tito Puente , Barbara and their peers ,Kwak received his first shock discovering hip hop with SugarHill Gang and heavy rock with Motörhead.
The early house parties (for student mates) started at the end of the 80's. At the same time, he started rehearsing with punk – hardcore bands as a frontman with critical acclaim on the then flourishing belgian scene. Then, by 1994, he started organising concerts and parties and soon enough was programming dj's for the Kafé Kan'h in Brussels (From 1999 to 2004). In 2002, he started organising his own Strictly Niceness with teammate Dj Eleven, a monthly funk and soul party with crazy vibes taking place at the Biberium (Ex – Flanagan’s).
As a dj, he has crossed the wax with such international greats as Paul Murphy (Afroart Records), Rainer Trueby (Compost Records), Mad Mats, Nostalgia 77 and Quantic (Tru Thoughts Records), Cris Prolific (45 Scientific), Soul Rabbi, Gruyere Dj (New Cheese Records) and the cream of the crop among belgian dj’s : Bass Culture Soundsystem, Murvin Jay, Bernard Dobbeleer (Classic 21), Dj Simon Le Saint (PIAS/ Skinfama) Dj Piiit, Doc CLD, K’Bonus (Pulver Records), Snooba (Vinyl Amalgame), Onda Sonora Soundsystem, Brekbit (FM Brussel), Raggamuffin Whiteman, Dj Lefto, Smos, or Ipiki Ookami for example. He also played as opening act for such artists as Aka Moon, Alice Russell or The Peas Project.
Kwak is currently displaying his vibes in all and every bar in Brussels ( Roi des Belges, Cafe Dirty @ Dirty Dancing, Belga, Le Tavernier, La Maison du Peuple, …), in Antwerp, in Luxemburg … He is also broadcasting the BACK TO NICENESS RADIOSHOW on Fm Brussel (www.fmbrussel.be) each and every saturdays from 6PM to 7PM.
Expect classics and discoveries, rarities and insanities in funk, soul, hip hop, ska, rocksteady and more… The next step remains to be written.
