With a background as new-wave, punk & metal dj,
Kyulo starts mixing house & techno on a regular basis in the early 90's.
During the later half, he gets infected with the drum’n’bass virus and experimented by starting up a reggae sound ('98),
this gave him the chance to play alongside Belgian, UK and German sounds.
Meanwhile, having discovered nu-skool breaks, that soundcrew soon (2000) changed into
Basswrkz, one of Belgium's very first Breaks dj crews.
As breaks are the perfect combination of all before mentioned influences,
musicwise there was no other possibilty than this being the next step forward.
With Basswrkz he organised parties with international guests such as:
Klaus “Heavyweight” Hill (UK/AUS), Sunz Of Mecha (UK),
Nick Fury (UK/FIN) and LBJ (FIN).
In 2003 he programmed the line-up for the BreaksFM breakbeat stage at the Dour festival,
featuring Jay Cunning (UK), Uncouth Youth (UK),
Vanno & LiquidX (BE) and himself.
Throughout the years he has also shared many line-ups with the likes of Tamsin (UK),
Vlad (UK), Rogue Element (UK), Mr No Hands (UK), Kosmik Neil (UK),
Diverted (UK), Ceephax Acid Crew (UK), Radioactive Man (UK),
Andrew Weatherall (UK), Acid Ted (UK), Steve Kyte (UK), Miss Bliss (USA), Re :nald & Krewl,
Ed & Kim, and many others, at places such as Fuse, Cafe Capital, Rumba, Plan B, Musicafe, Kosmic,Kultuurkaffee, Decadance,
Dali's Bar, Nouveaux Russes, Momo's, H2O, Delite, Halles de Schaarbeek, Forest Festival, Backstage (NL), Bootleg DJ Cafe (NL),
Saaqui (London, UK) etc...
Since 2003 he also has hosted a string of online breakbeat radioshows, sometimes as member of a crew or just by himself,
constantly bringing out the best in breaks !
Studentenradio VUB (now called XL-Air) (2003-2004), Boups.com radio (2003-2005), Reload-Radio.com (2006 - 2007),
CC-Radiostation.net (2006 - 2007), Lazerhothits.com (2007).
From 2007 on, he has a worldwide respected show (Deft Kompoundz) with an ever growing amount of listeners,
on the scene's most prestigious radiostation, iBreaks.co.uk (every thursday 6-8pm gmt)!
On top of all that, since the end of 2007, he's one of the 3 founding members, resident dj and the driving force
behind Belgium's leading Breaks events, Juice! and X-Trackx and resident dj @ LowUp, Brussels.
With Juice! & X-Trackx, again he provides a platform for local and international talents, such as JMekka (UK), Unbalanced Jack (UK),
Digital Base (Spain), Electric Soulside, Funky-T, etc...
As looking for new influences and staying original is what keeps dj'ing interesting, it's needless to say that
his sound is still unique (no 2 sets are the same) and a sure win for all dancefloors!
Today almost anything with fat bass and clever drums, between 120 and 145 bpm, can be heard in his sets.
Wether it's funky, techy, uplifting, deep, relaxed, progressive or just raw and dark, 4x4,
rave or even dubstep, some fidget, electrohouse or old skool...
It's all skillfully glued together with only 3 purposes... party, Party and PARTY !
