DATU(CHIEF) LAPULAPU and the people of MAKTAN defeated the first recorded European Armed Aggression in the Visayan region of what later became known as the Philippines. LapuLapu took the head of the Portuguese mercenary commander, Magellan, who was leading the Spanish invasion force in Gregorian Calendar year 1521.
Beginning with the expeditions and occupation led by Italian mercenary Columbus (who thought he was invading South or Southeast Asia, thus his label "Indios" or Indians for the Brown people he was exploiting and murdering), the Spaniards had been systematically enslaving the Arawak/Taino people in areas including what became known as Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica. The Colonialists terrorized Native people who did not deliver their quota of gold to the government with extreme punishments like the cutting off of ears and noses. The First Nations people in Jamaica were virtually exterminated by the European invaders, with Indigenous survivors escaping to other lands or mixing with the Maroons and other African populations brought to the Caribbean. In 1521 the Spaniards also attacked Moctezuma and his people on the mainland of Anahuak/The Great Turtle Island. The Spaniards trapped thousands of men, women, and children inside of buildings and burned them alive. Turtle Island/Anahuak was colonially re-named "America" by the European Imperialists and their mercenaries after the Italian mapmaker who figured out that Columbus had begun colonizing and enslaving people not of Indo~Malayan islands, but of an entirely distinct continent and set of islands.
"The Battle of Maktan" by Angel Carnio
Before the Spaniards met military defeat at the hands of LAPULAPU and the people of MAKTAN in the Visayan region of what is now my beloved PILIPINAS, Magellan's crew had landed in Guam and had abused the hospitable Chamoru people, murdering some before fleeing. Magellan's crew also raped Visayan women and, after their commander's head was taken, became pirates, attacking and robbing innocent island people along their path. Eventually, a few made their way back to Europe. BTW- MAGELLAN DID NOT ACTUALLY MAKE IT COMPLETELY AROUND THE WORLD. A Malay Man he had previously enslaved (in what is now known as Indonesia) and renamed "Enrique" actually DID make it all the way back to his home Arkipelago, though.

RIPPLE EFFECT "Keeping things conscious and following up their rather eclectic and experimental album Roots All Sorts, the MDV have just birthed a dynamic and vivacious live sound. Once again seasoned with that grounded MDV rootsy signature, the essence of this album speaks commandingly yet beneficently. The songs illustrate the bands live proficiencies - a steady resonance of authentic Roots Reggae, very often abandoned by the sounds of today. Ripple Effect is an intelligent and fresh assemblage of brilliant tunes with a slice of instrumental experimentation. ENJOY!!!! -AMF68
We always appreciate any feedback. GIVE THANKS MDV-1
