Leni K has been a professional DJ for over 23 years. His early musical influences include Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, OMD, Depeche Mode, New Order, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242 and various other industrial and synth-pop bands. Currently, Leni is inspired by DJ/Producer’s Danny Tenaglia, Peter Rauhofer & Deep Dish to name a few. Leni's DJ Style is an eclectic combination of infectious basslines, progressive tribal rhythms, house, tech & electro house and of course, that special vocal track thrown in for excitement. Dramatic builds, and "hands in the air" energy are the trademarks of Leni's DJ sets, which consistently leave crowds cheering for more. One of Leni's main goals is to bring all types of people together for one thing; THE MUSIC!
Over the years, Leni has played along side international "heavy hitters" the likes of: Paul Oakenfold, Superchumbo, Starkillers aka Nick Terranova, Junior Vasquez, Billy Carroll, Boy George, Danny Howells, Tall Paul, Keoki, Max Graham, Scott Henry, Micro, DJ Dan, Bad Boy Bill, Jerry Bohnam, Feelgood, Donald Glaude, Layo & Bushwacka, Sandra Collins, & DJ Icey!
Since 1994 Leni has been one of only 150 DJ's in the country to receive the honor of being named a weekly Billboard Reporter for the National Club Chart. His job is to test records in his market, report the results to the record labels and to compile the results in his weekly chart, which in turn contributes to the National Club Chart.
In 1995, with the help of two friends, Leni founded "The Spot Nightclub" in Baltimore and in 1998 he launched "Bang The Spot", a bi-weekly party showcasing elite national and international DJ talent, as well as, helping break new and upcoming talent into the area. The Spot has received many accolades through various media sources including being named "Best Dance Club" by the City Paper in 1999.
In 1997 Leni dove head first into production. Molding years of ideas and most importantly dance floor experience, producing was the next logical step and a natural extension of his polished DJ skills. His first project was with Baltimore's internationally known DJ/Producer DJ Who. Together they remixed Pretty Poison's ..1 hit "Catch Me I'm Falling" for the 10 year anniversary remix package. Later in the same year, Leni founded THE Q&K Session along with fellow Baltimore DJ/Producer Shawn Q. The Q&K Session has 3 12" single releases and 8 remix credits to their name. Amber's "The Need To Be Naked" went ..1 with the help of their remix! The Mike G remix of the Q&K Session's "Pulsate" and the Q&K Session's remix of The Clinic's "Lay It Down" was considered for both Satoshi Tomie and Deep Dish's Global Underground CD's respectfully! International heavy hitters Danny Tenaglia, David Morales, Rodger Sanchez, Victor Calderone, That Kid Chris, Superchumbo & Junior Vasquez have been heard spinning "Bangin It To The Bone", a mash-up of LNR "Work It To The Bone" and Kenlu 6 "Bangin'" re-edited by The Q&K Session! In addition, The K&S Project's "The Music" has been remixed by Peter Rauhofer & signed to his *69 Record Label. "The Music" was included on various CD compilations & Oscar G's "Made In Miami" CD. "The Music" has been canned by some of the words biggest DJ's!
2001 was a good year! Buzzlife and Ultraworld Productions asked Leni to spin on the main stage at "Odyssey" located in the DC Armory alongside headliners Boy George, DJ Dan, Bad Boy Bill, & Scott Henry!
Later in 2001, Leni, along with partners, opened up Redwood Trust. Described by many as the most beautiful nightclub that Baltimore has ever seen! Trust is equipped with a world-class custom installed digital integrated Phazon sound system installed by Steve Dash from the legendary Twilo in NY! In 2002 the Baltimore City Paper named Trust "Best Dance Club" & in 2003 Redwood Trust was nominated for "Best Interior Design" in Club Systems International magazine!
In Oct 2002 world renown Buzzlife Productions called Trust their home on Saturday nights for 10 months and asked Leni to be a resident DJ.
In 2003, after dissolving the Q&K Session, Leni wanted to head in a new direction of producing progressive and forward thinking house music! Leni joined forces with Harrisburg Pennsylvania's DJ/Producer Kevin Sheetz, a pioneer in the central PA underground scene to form the production duo "K&S Project".
2004 was an impressive year for Leni! The K&S Project's first remix for Kristine W's "Fly Again" on Tommy Boy Records, went to ..1 with the help of their remix! Also, their first original project "The Music" was signed to *69 Records! On the DJ front, Leni was praised for his energy charged opening and closing sets for Paul Oakenfold & Sandra Collins during their stop at Buzzlife Production's "Cubik" in DC! In addition, Leni had people talking for months about his 5 hour "hands in the air" opening set for the legendary Jr. Vasquez at Pure Nightclub in Philly. Later that month, Leni found himself opening for Bad Boy Bill at Cubik with overwhelmingly positive reviews.
In 2005, the K&S Project landed their 2nd ..1 remix for Jason Walker's "Set It Free" on JVM Records! Their debut original production "The Music" was officially released for the WMC with rave reviews! Peter Rauhofer included "The Music" on his mix CD compilation "Live @ Roxy 4" and "The Music" was also included on *69's "Divas To The Dancefloor Vol 2" respectfully! In addition, Oscar G included the K&S Project's "The Music" on his mix CD compilation entitled "Made In Miami"!
In the summer of 2006 "The Music" was included on the *69 Records compilation cd entitled "Star 69 Extended Mixes Vol 6". The K&S Project's follow-up to "The Music" which is entitled "Anyway" is currently being shopped to record labels.
