Le maloya fut interdit à
La Réunion jusqu'en 1981!
He was a masterof Maloya music (traditional
music from
island of La Réunion, Indian Ocean, still a french possession). Maloya is the music of the former slaves brought from
Africa and Madagascar and then after the 1848 abolition
of slavery,
workers from India. Maloya has also parts of european colonial
culture,
but its main roots are Madagascar and Africa.
The population in La Réunion is very mixed
and in a same family u will find all different races.
It's a dangerous music prohibited by the authorities till 1981
!
