Calling one of Phoenix's best known and hardest working DJs, producers, and on-air personalities a workaholic would be quite an understatement. 'The Diva Of Jamz' Lysa D., former midday personality/morning host, mix show coordinator, music director, and PD assistant on KAJM-Mega 104.3/99.3 FM, while also pulling dual duties as the evening personality on KNRJ-Energy 92.7/101.1 fm.
From being the first female Disc Jockey to spin live on Q-104 .7 FM (Ventura C.A.) in 1997, to elevating her game and establishing herself as one of the country's influential taste-makers, Lysa D. has an arsenal of multiple talents that has set her apart from a suddenly crowded field of female DJs. "Never Let Me Down" by Richard Vission, "Get Naked" by Steve Smooth/JJ Flores and "E-Samba" by Junior Jack were all hits Lysa D. had a key role in breaking to her audiences in radio before other major markets followed suit.
In addition to being an engaging host and entertaining radio personality, Lysa D. is also a highly in~demand DJ headlining and performing with the likes of DJ Irene, Rick Garcia, Bobby D., Alex Peace, Martha Wash, Evelyn "Champagne" King, and Bad Boy Bill among many others helping to raise her international profile. Lysa's funky/bangin/deep house mixed with precision has stirred crowds into a frenzy at prestigious venues that include Sullivan Room and Shine in New York, RAIN in Las Vegas, Deja Vu in Atlantic City at the DJ Times/DJ Expo 'Women On Wax' event to her past known residencies including "FLUX" in Downtown Phoenix & The Brookside (Surprise, AZ) counted among her many recent appearances. Lysa D. currently prefers a more mainstream vibe, spinning Hip-Hop, Old School, mashups, and Top 40 with equal efficiency further enhancing her widening marketability and overall appeal!
Her charisma as a radio personality has lead to many speaking engagements and show commitments that include presenter for 'Best Record Label' at the 2004 Int'l Dancestar Music Awards in Miami, and speaking on various radio panels along with some of the top experts in her field at conventions around the globe. Lysa D. continually enforces her reputation of being one of the "hardest working DJs" in the business. In addition, Lysa D.'s "GrooveSessionz" mix show was considered for international syndication after a two and a half year run but was briefly put on hold with hopes to resume future plans to syndicate.
Some of Lysa D.'s ventures outside of radio & DJing include "miXellaneous Inc." (a subsidiary of "shaymlesse productionz" est. 1996). miXellaneous is a marketing/promotions agency, which also offers web/graphic design & artist booking/mgmt. She's also founder/CEO of BoogieDownBoricua.com (an online retail/promotion/entertainment site targeted to representing the Latin community), The Funk Boutique (online clubwear/fashions/gift & accessories store), just to name a few. Not to mention, Lysa D. will be launching her new cosmetics line, "sKetch & sKetch body" (Spring 2009), & even looking to design a small, exclusive clothing line called, "mookie".
As she currently has found her new home at KZON 101.5 JAMZ (www.1015jamz.com), Lysa D. continues to keep up with her fans, as well as, her love of music. Don't write off this "diva" just yet, she plans to bring back the fire in 2009 with plans to collaborate a reunion compilation with the Housekilla DJs (Ernan, DJ Dre, etc.), as well as mixin' it up on the airwaves & in the clubs again in '09 (Phoenix or location TBA). Keep an eye & ear out for Lysa's return to do what she does best....ENTERTAIN... very soon!
