Like many DJs, M1KE got his start spinning at house parties and small functions. He then picked up momentum after having the chance to DJ at rallies, dances, and Freestyle Fridays for his high school, as well as at weddings and other events. Since then, he has graduated to college and corporate events, hip-hop concerts, and, of course, nightclubs. What differentiates M1KE from the thousands of other great DJs out there is he truly plays what the crowd wants to hear. He has one goal in mind -- make the people dance.
DJ M1KE got his first true introduction to the entertainment industry in 2007 when he began interning at Bakersfield hip-hop station PLAY 103.9 FM. After observing and participating in the daily operations of the radio station, M1KE began mixing weekly for the Friday Night Street Sweep and Saturday Night Mezcla radio show. The station provided great exposure as well as many networking opportunities with artists and record labels.
In addition to M1KE’s radio and club work, he is also the official DJ for Black Diamondz Music Group LLC, an up-and-coming production and publishing company led by super-producer Sleep Deez. The group also consists of producers Rellevant and B. Moody, singer Racella, and MCs J. Heat, Sunny Rose, and Nutzo. Being the DJ in such a musically-talented and industry-connected music team has definitely helped M1KE’s contact list grow and increased his avenues into the music industry.
In 2009, M1KE became one of the resident DJs and promoters at Bakersfied hot spot Replay Lounge & Grill. Since his start, M1KE has thrown numerous successful events and has brought the fresh, young college crowd to the club. With guest spots at other clubs such as Cabana Palms, Azul's, The Nile Bar & Grill, and Senor Pepe's, M1KE's ability to bring a crowd have not gone unnoticed.
With such an impressive résumé and so much experience under his belt, the sky is the limit for this 22 year-old DJ whose passion of thinking outside the box will definitely take him to high places in the music and club industry.
