I first got into underground dance music when I was about 12 years old. One of my mates at school told me about a pirate station called DREAM FM which used to play happy hardcore. Cos it was new to me used to listen to it every day after school.
I got into drum and bass a little but it wasnt really my thing. i liked all the commercial tunes and that. By the time I got to college I was more of a hip hop head. I remember asking my friends "what is garage". At 16 years old in 1996 i didnt have a clue.
From then I used to go to all the big raves...GARAGE NATION, LIBERTY, RAGS 2 RICHES, KOO CLUB, EXPERIENCE @ CAMDEN (u get the picture).
I learned to mix when I was 17 round by mates house. From then I was bang on garage. I got onto Flash/Boss 97.5FM, joined STONECOLD GX CREW (Danger was their biggest tune). I left there to go on upfront FM.
I was on there for about 2-3 years but then I left there to go on FREEK FM (big up Ramma and 6-9). By this time I had left STONDCOLD GX CREW to go it alone. Them lot are my boys but its hard being in a group (trust me).
I was a bit long to get to FREEK FM there cos I was from south london and they were in north london.
In the end I left there and went on FLASHBACK FM (WITH TIPPA, IC, FEVA, DJ ABLE, DJ SUPREME + DANNY BLAZE). By this time garage was getting a bit grimey. I wasnt really feeling it so I started playing old skool again. I tried to get into the 4x4 garage scene but that wasnt happening for me. I basically gave up DJing in 2005. I was basically pissed off with getting nowhere and spending money on records! I must of spent grands during the garage era.
From then I basically got on the case... started to play at RED CARPET, got onto DEJA VU and started to get bookings (during 2006). I left DEJA in 2007 to go to WWW.RINSE.FM... along SUPA D, KISMET, IC, FEVA, TIPPA + NG (Some of the big boys in the scene)...
Now its all about pushing the music forward and pushing my record label KARNIVAL MUSIC....
The message.... IF MUSIC IS INSIDE U, NEVER GIVE UP.
thanks for the add famo. I luv that track GIVE IT UP, great peace of work, it's always in my set big choon. Feeling your flava for sure, keep it moving sir UK Funky...
