Originaly Mara Branco was born and raised in Brazil were she lived for her first 20 years.Then in 1993 Mara has moved to London UK were she got envolved with the underground techno scene,when she became a squat party goer and felt in love with the uk acid techno music and decide get into de decks and learn some mixing skills.Toke her less than 2 years untill start playing out at free european festivals like Teknival and Travellers site at Glastonbury Festival in the middlands.Then she got envolved with the Liberators DJ's and became a partner of Julian Liberator in a start of a new record label called 4X4,the idea of the music on that label was a mixing of hard,funky,deep and clanking sounds on they favorite style of music...techno!In 96 Mara went to work in a new record shop in Camnden Town specialized in eletronic music called Dragon Discs,in there she acurate her musical taste in all directions,she would know from the very new speed garage to old school jungle,trance,house,breakbeat,techno,hardcore and even some ambient and of the wall music such as Squarepusher and Aphex Twin but still playing out her favorite style techno and acid techno.She became the favorite record shop manager in London and 3 years later has been invited to work in the biggest and famous record shop in the UK "Kinetec Records" were she was working full time as a buyer and selecting the records the shop would buy and sell them to the djs like anyone else...she would know the taste of each customer and people would come from al over Europe to buy records there.In the mean time Mara was producing tracks for her label along side with Julian Liberator and Henry Cullen aka Dave the Drummer.The first 4 releases on the 4X4 label was produced by them together. She even got together with DJ Gizele and DJ Ant to produce a stumping house track for the "Low Rent Operator" label and became a must have it in many top djs case! For the next 4 years Mara divided her time with the record shop..the label and playing at the underground techno parties...the infamous Squat parties were religious she was playing every weekend for the passion of her art of djing. In 2001 Mara got pregnant and even in her last months of pregancy she was playing at clubs and parties all over Europe...she has played in Scotland,Holand and Venezuela. When her baby Oliver born she was still working at Kinetec Records at the mean time called Banging Tunes then she decides was time to move back to Brazil were the eletronic music was getting very strong.When she arrived in Brasil she started play in all majors parties ,raves and festivals her flair,energy,music and mixing skills was contagious to everybody,in a very short time she became one of the biggest brasilian dj and for sure the most carismatic of all!!Her fans fowling her everywere she plays,for the last 4 years shes been back in Brazil she palyed all over the country every weekend for all kind of techno parties.Her style now is very unique and show her personality and very good taste for music,she paly a mixing of funky,groove hard tribal techno.A real party music!People in Brzil say a party is not complete if Mara is not playing.This year she was elected number 12 in the world in the pol of american site www.shejay.com they elected the top 100 female djs in the world and she became in 12th!!The people just go mad about her!She drives a dancefloor like nobody else..she knows what they want hear and how!She has been playing alog side with top djs such as Adam Beyer,Innigo Keneddy,Monika Kruse,Thomas Heckmman,Tim Taylor,Jerome Hill,Marco Bailey,Umek,Valentino,Dave the Drummer,Geezer,Chris Liberator,DJ Emmerson,Holgi Star,Luke Slater,Billy Nasty,DJ Assault,Cristian Smith,and many more. At the moment Mara has a residency night a the top club Lov.e in São Paulo called Love Express one saturday at month along with the others residents Murphy,Snoop,Lukas. For sure London is missing this "wonder" woman dj but Brasil will never let her go now!
