Mate got in contact with music in the year '87.
Later on that year he met TLP and Grazzhoppa, 2 people who influenced him a lot. His first love was hip-hop music, but as the years passed by DJ Mate collected more and more music from different styles.
Going from hip-hop, soul, funk, trip hop, reggae, jungle, dancehall, soca and back again.
The first DJ steps Mate took were around '90-'91 in his birthplace Kortrijk.
DJ Mate got in contact with jungle in the early 90's. He played as one of Belgium's 1st jungle DJs at the legendary Democrazy jungle nights in '95 alongside the No U Turn crew Ed Rush & Nico.
Later he played with other UK Jungle DJs like Dylan, Zinc, Trace, Kemistry and Storm,... DJ Mate left the jungle scene because of other musical influences and got more and more into the Reggae Ragga scene next 2 his brothers TLP& Dors.
DJ Mate played together with the infamous T'n'D Soundsystem several times.
Mashed up the place everywhere. Big up T'n'D.
U will know him from the legendary QPC parties in Catacombes in Roeselare, Boom Boom Room in Antwerp, the wicked parties in Leuven at the Silo and at The Rumba, in Ghent: the underground Chaos Dayz parties, Democrazy 95'-98', 2000-2004 resident at Afterbounce Decadance, 10 Days Off festival...and on a few other festivals.
Now Dj Mate found a new genre called dubstep he really got the virus, all his time goes to producing and spinning dubstep.
Dj Mate played already alongside Vex'd, Roll Deep,
Distance, Quiet Storm, Chef, Target, Mala, Loefah, Pinch, Mary Ann Hobbs,Plastician, Skream, Slt Mob, Cluekid, Rusko and more dubsteppers in the near future.
Dj Mate got a radio show every friday from 23h till 01h GMT + 1 its called
"AFTER 12" on Urgent.fm / 105.3Fm.
It’s together with Goony, Black Francis and Fudge.
We also organising dubstep parties called "AFTER 12".
U can find DJ Mate spinning all around the country.
He's one of Belgiums finest if u want a quality evening.
Nowadays DJ Mate gives u a mix of all the newest in Dubstep,
and from time 2 time he plays Grime Old skool jungle Uk-Garage and some older rave stuff.

We had the chance and the pleasure to celebrate on Saturday november 21st 2009 at the Vaudeville in Brussels, the Hip-Hop Anniversary proposing 26 years of this Culture in Belgium as well as 35 years worldwide without forgetting 21 years of struggle for the Zulu Nation on our country.
That event had for goal to celebrate with the entire Community a new step in the history of the movement and this is why the Zulu Nation did all they could to offer to everyone a party which should stay in the History of our National events putting on the table their Financial capacities but most af all the positive energy that the organisation tries to spread thru all those years.
It is important to understand that this Culture is the property of nobody in particular and each and everyone defend it or make it survive in its way. The Zulu Nation has for goal to unite the different people to create a "Unity" which stays the key for success and longetivity.
The Zulu Nation thanks everyone who are fighting to make this culture surviving since all those years thru the Artistic way, the Financial Way, Cultural way o

We start with The Dog politik EP
'What you see and what you hear it's for real', you've been warned. Dense cinematic atmos and piercing basslines confront with razor sharp beats setting the tone for a steppy trip through Grimelock's sonic view of 'Dog Politik'.
The story is continued with 'Gorilla March' alongside Alchemyst. Dub heavy pads and stabs coming straight from a big rave flashback that echoes and glows until the bass drops and the beats kick in pumping out the air out of your lungs.
