Matt Farley began to develop his craft as a DJ 9 years ago, taking a bedroom set up into practise and kept a keen eye on the clubbing scene to find a whole new outlook on advancing his musical abilities. From an early age Matt had an aspiring passion for collecting music and has a strong Hip Hop & House influence from pioneers such as Cypress Hill and Snoop Doggy Dogg. But it wasn’t long before Matt was drawn to mixing the home-grown genre of Garage music, and found contentment within his craft.
Throughout the years of perfecting his skills, DJ Matt Farley continued to build his vinyl empire and was playing out at parties and small functions. Whilst following the scene with inspiration from the likes of DJ's Andy Ward, Glen Woods and Tuff Jams, who were back then making adamant amounts of noise in the 2Step Garage scene, Matt perspired to be a successful DJ. His presence within the scene was noted and in 1999 Matt Farley was given the chance to prove himself after winning several DJ competitions and landed a few local residencies at new and popular nights such as Pleasure @ The Beach (now Dawn UK) and Totty @ Canal Club, Matt started playing on a regular basis where some say he gained the most notoriety.
DJ Matt Farley landed a resident spot every Saturday at the Beachnight club which fulfilled its capacity every week without fail, this being the gig where his reputation as a compelling DJ gained a popular status. After a year at Beachnight the club was closed down but by that time Matt had already started getting bookings for various Garage events and club night. The bookings persisted within and out the UK in such places as Sheffield, Bradford, Cardiff, Leeds, Ibiza and Costa Del Sol .
Following this Matt became a resident DJ for bigger promotions and being booked for bigger events nationwide such as Garage Nation, Harmony, Ascension, Sun City, Garage Fever, Garage Sweetness, License to Rave, Urban Music Showcase, Pure Silk, Purely Magic, Sidewinder. And being a part of one of the most flagship under 18s which went by the name of Garage Uncovered as well as attaining regular slots on Birmingham's underground station's Passion FM (now Hot 92) , Heat FM & Midlands Underground 107 FM. Mainly playing 2 Step Garage, Speed Garage and Classic House Anthems.
Musical ambitions never stopped at DJ’in, Matt has always been about producing great vocal and Minimal tunes, his enthusiasm for the music is obvious. He has distinguished himself already with the starkly industrial kind of sound, Matt has created a result of his unique choice and application of samples when he first started releasing around three years ago. There's Plenty to look forward to from Matt Farley, As people sum up succinctly: "We'd always said Matt Farley was about vocal and simply music that makes you want to dance and smile." Amen to that.
